1 Claim.
This invention relates to bowling alleys, and particularly to the pin spots thereof.
By way of explanation, it might be stated that due to the constant placing of pins on the spots of bowling alleys, the spots become Worn to the end that the pins can only be set up on the alley, With difficulty.
It is therefore the primary object of the present invention to provide adjustable pin spots for bowling alleys, which when they become worn. may be readily adjusted so that the upper surfaces thereof will be flush with alley, to permit the pins to be set up with facility.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed,-it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein described, may be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Referring to the drawing:
Figure 1 is a plan view of a bowling alley pin spot, constructed in accordance with the invention.
Figure 2 is a sectional View taken on line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Referring to the drawing in detail, the pin spot embodies a disk-like base 5, provided with screw openings 6, for the reception of the securing screws 1, that secure the disk-like base in the bottom of a circular opening, formed in the bowling alley, the opening being of a diameter so that the disk will fit closely therein.
Rising from the center of the disk-like base 5, is a threaded stem 8 which threaded stem is adapted to extend into the threaded opening 9 of the adjustable body portion Ill of the pin spot. This body portion H] is of a diameter to closely fit within the opening formed in the bowling alley, and is constructed of wear resisting fibre material. Openings II are provided in the body portion HI and afford means whereby a wrench may be positioned on the body portion to rotate the body portion. a
When the pin spot becomes worn to such an extent that pins can only be set up with difflculty, the body portion may be removed and a disk-like spacing member constructed of any suitable material, and indicated at l2, positioned m over the disk-like base 5. The body portion may now be positoned over the extension or threaded stem 8, and the upper surface of the body portion planed or smoothed off 'so that the upper surface thereof will be flush with the bowling alley surface.
It will be obvious that by replacing the spacing member l2 with a thicker spacing member, the adjustable spot or body portion may be used indefinitely, and with the assurance that a smooth upper surface will be provided at the pin end of the alley, at all times.
What is claimed is:
A pin spot for bowling alleys, comprising a disklike member having screw openings, and adapt- 0 ed to be fitted in an opening of a bowling alley,
a threaded stud rising from the center of the disk-like member, a disk-like spot member having I a central threaded opening and constructed of wear-resisting material, positioned on the base 30 member. said stud extending into the threaded opening, securing the spot member to the base member, a spacing disk disposed between the base member and spot member elevating the spot member with respect to the, base member, said stud being shorter than the depth of the opening in which the base member is positioned, whereby said spot member may be planed flush with the surface of the bowling alley.
