'Ihe rear ends of these plungers are connected to the slidable heads 24 and 25 by crossheads 54 and side rods 55 extending-along each side of each cylinder.` Admission of fluid tothe front end of the cylinders willcause the plungers'to pull side rods55 and lsliding heads 24 and 25v rearwardly while uid pressure admitted to the other' end of the if desired. f From the foregoing disclosure 1t 1s seen that Iv n a have provided an extremely rugged tilting head" tilting platen to move into avertical open position when the slidable frame is moved rearwardly on its guideways and to rotate the tiltable platen into parallelism with the lower platen when they slidable frame'is moved forwardly on' the guideways.
3. A tilting head press comprising, in combination, a stationary frame having horizontal.
guideways, a frame slidably supported on said guideways, a tiltable head operatively connected to said slidable frame, and means for tilting said head when said slidable Aframe is moved, said stationary frameincluding frame sides terminating at their upper ends in'y said guideways.
4. The' combination set forth in claim 1 further characterized in that said stationary frame includes frame sides terminating at their'upper' ends in said guideways, and said guideways and slidable frame have cooperating T-shaped and C-shaped members.

A tilting head press comprising, in combination, a stationary frame having horizontal guideways, airame slidably supported on said guideways, a tiltable head operatively connected to said slidable frame, and means for tilting said head when said slidable frame is moved, said stationary frame having side pedestals terminating at their upper .ends in said guideways, and piston and cylinder elements extending horizontally into said frame pedestals adjacent said guideways,

A tilting head press comprising, in combination, opposed platens relatively movable toward eachother, a stationary frame carrying one of said platens and having guideways extending in a direction transversely of the 4direction in which frame slidably supported'on said guideways so as to move in said transverse direction, the other of said -platens comprising a tiltable head operatively connected to said slidable frame, means for moving said slidable frameincluding operating cylinder and piston elements one of which is secured to and projects directly rearwardly from said stationary frame and the other of rwhich is connected to said slidable frame, and means fory tilting said head when said slidable frame is moved-in said vtransverse direction along said guideways.
