IMPROVEMENT IN MATCH-SAFES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 219,135, dated September 2, 1879; application filed June 26, 1879.
one time be withdrawn.-. Its construction and operation will be readily understood by referring to the drawings, in which- Figure l is a perspective view thereof, and Fig. 2 a vertical cross-section of the same.
A is arectangular base-plate, at the ends of which are erected stands B B. The upper ends of these are connected by a horizontal bar, 0, from which is suspended, by lugs c f, a cylindrical receptacle, F, having a narrow longitudinal slit, g, constructed on its upper side, through which the matches are delivered, when required, into a groove made in the upper side of the bar G. The capacity of this groove is such as to contain but one match. at a time, and the sidesof the groove are cut, as ath, to facilitate the removal ofthe matches therefrom.
An openingprovided with a suitable cap is made in one end of the receptacle, as at I, for the introduction of the matches. This opening, however, may be made at any other desirable part of the receptacle.
To obtain a match from the device, swing the receptacle around on its bearings until it has reached the position shown in Fig. 2. This will cause the contents thereof to roll over toward the slit, through which, owing to the limited capacity of the groove, but one match can be discharged, and this passes into the aforesaid groove, from which it is readily removed after the receptacle has been allowed to assume its normal position.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A match-safe consisting of a base, A, stands B1B, and grooved bar 0, the latter having suspended therefrom a receptacle, F, through the upper portion of which is constructed a longitudinal slit, 9, as described, and for the purpose specified. I I
In testimony whereof Ihave hereunto signed my name.
ADAM F. ABLE.
