IMPROVEMENT lN ORNAMENTAL CHAINS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 219,091, dated September 2, 1879; application filed July 7, 1879.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHARLES F. HECK- MANN, of Plainville, in the county of Norfolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented an Improvement in Ornamental Chains, of which the following is a specification.
The nature of my invention consists in an improved ornamental chain-link made of wire so bent and formed as to present three equal loops and hooks at each end of the link, and also in the combination of stampedv metal ornaments attached to the outside or face of the loop-hooks.
Figure 1 represents a plan mary form of the link. 2 represents a chain formed of the completed links. Fig. 3 represents an edge view of the link shown in Fig. 1, and shows the mode of bending the same in order to produce the perfect chainlink.
In-the drawings, Fig. l, A is a piece of wire first bent to form the three eyes or loops a b c, the middle eye, I), being made greater than either of .the other two, with the two ends of the wire abutting against each other at I). Then, in order to complete the link, the loop a.
view of the priis bent down upon the side of the eye b, and
the loop 0 turned up on the opposite side, thus forming the three loops and hooks a a a at one end of the link, and the three loops and hooks 0 c c at the opposite end of the link, as fully shown in Figs. 2 and 3.
The several links are hooked together to form a chain, as shown in Fig. 2, and the ornaments B B B, consisting of stamped metal leaves or other suitable forms, may be soldered to the face of each of the several loops or hooks, producing a very desirable ornamental chain.
I claim as my invention '1. A chain-link made of wire so bentand formed as to present three several loops and hooks at each end of the link, substantially as described.
2. In a chain-link formed as above described and claimed, the combined ornamental pieces attached to the front of the loop or hook, substantiall y as described.
CHARLES F. HEOKMANN.
