In the application and use of this improved adjustable curtain bracket, a pair of the brackets l!) are secured to a door or window frame with respective curtain rod holders ll therein, by the upper and lower disposed screws 25 in alinement with the guide way iii of the bracket, and the upper curtain rod brackets 8 are secured in positions above the light opening of the door. The curtain rod 9 is mounted in the brackets 8 with the decorating curtain depended therefrom and sustaining the lower curtain rod l3 which is engaged beneath the hook portion l2 of respective curtain rod holders H which may be disposed adjacent the upper. ends of the respective brackets it, and if the depending curtain sags,

For releasing the curtain rod holders ll so that they can be upwardly moved in respective brackets H a downwardly and outwardly bearing force is given to the hook portions II? for withdrawing the teeth l! of respective holders II from respective rows of teeth iii of the brackets It, and the holders H are then moved upwardly in this position and in the position as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1. This tilting action on the hook portion l2 of respective rod holders II will cause the intermediate portion Iii of the rod holder to fulcrum at the acute bend 26, but as soon as the hook portion 52 is released, the teeth I'! will be swung to re--engaging position with the teeth rows ll; of respective brackets I0.

Owing to the alining securing screws 25 of respective brackets l0 having their heads project in the path of sliding travel of respective curtain rod holders H, the curtain rod holders will be prevented from being withdrawn downwardly from the guide way or slot 25 of respective brackets H] as they will abut the respective projecting lower screw heads 25, in the event of them being inadvertently moved too far outwardly of the guide way H3. The curtain rod holders II are prevented from being upwardly withdrawn from respective brackets It by the ends of the bifurcated members 22 thereof abutting the projecting lip 28 of respective brackets.

By reason of the inherent characteristics of this improved adjustable curtain bracket, when they are mounted in pairs against a door or Window frame, they may become permanent fixtures thereto.

Having thus described the invention so that those skilled in the art will be able to practice the same, what I desire to secure by Letters Patent is defined in what is claimed, it being understood that various changes in the device shown and described above in detail and not amounting to invention, may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention.

What I claim is: 1. A curtain bracket comprising a sheet metal housing with a longitudinal slot formed in one of its walls, a curtain rod holder made of flat resilient material bent to form a U-shaped portion with a hook portion formed at the extending end of a leg thereof, one of the legs of the holder being disposed within the housing and the other leg with the hook portion thereon being disposed outside of the housing, pressed-out ratchet teeth formed on the slotted wall of the housing, and a struck-out projecting portion formed on the outer disposed leg of said holder for engaging cooperation with said teeth.

2. A curtain bracket comprising a housing with a longitudinal slot formed in one of its side walls and teeth formed on each side of the slot on the outer surface of said wall, a curtain rod holder made of flat resilient material bent to form a U-shaped portion with one leg thereof disposed within the housing and the other leg disposed outside of the housing, said holder having oppositely disposed recesses at the bend of the U-shaped portion thereof for over-engaging respective side edges of the slot of the housing, said outer disposed leg of the holder having a pair of struck-out portions for engaging cooperation with said teeth.

3. A curtain bracket comprising a sheet metal housing with a longitudinal slot in one of its walls and a row of ratchet teeth formed on each side of said slot on the outer surface of said wall, and a curtain rod holder slidably mounted in the slot of said housing, said holder being made of flat resilient material which is bent to form a U-shaped portion thereon with an inverted hook portion at one end and disposed outside of the housing, said holder having a pair of struck-out parts adjacent the hook portion thereof for engaging cooperation with respective rows of said ratchet teeth.

4. A curtain bracket comprising a longitudinally slotted housing having pressed-out ratchet teeth formed on the outer surface of the housing on. each side of the slot, and an adjustable curtain rod holder made of a resilient material mounted in said housing and having side disposed projecting parts for engaging cooperation With the teeth on one side thereof, and said holder having another part for sliding contact with the teeth on the other side thereof.
