This invention appertains to new and useful improvements in striping means whereby lines formed on china and other surfaces in a quick and efiicient manner.
The principal object of the present invention is to provide a striper whereby a plurality of lines can be formed simultaneously without any increased efio-rt on the part of theperson handling the device.
Another important object of the invention is to provide a striper especially adapted for striping china and other articles capable of taking stripes wherein construction is provided whereby a plurality of stripes can be formed simultaneously and wherein the construction is such as to permit adjustment to increase or decrease the spaces between the stripes.
These and various other important objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent to the reader of the following specification.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 represents a perspective view of the implement in compact form.
s Figure 2 is a plan view of the instrument in expanded form.
Figure 3 is a plan view of the implement partly contracted.
Figure 4 is a section on line 44 of Figure 2.
Figure 5 is a sectional view taken substantially on line 5-5 of Figure 4.
Figure 6 is a perspective view of one of the brush units.
Figure 7 is a cross sectional view.
Referring to the drawings wherein like numerals designate like parts, it can be seen that obviously more than three striper units can be employed but for the purpose of illustration three units are shown in thedrawings. Each unit is constructed substantially identical with the others. The units consist of the L-shaped blocks 5, 6 and I. From the upper portion of the block 5 extends the tubes 8 and 80., while from the upper portions of the block 6 extends the somewhat longer and smaller diameter tubes 9 and 9a, these extending through the tubes 8 and 80. respectively. Extending from the upper portion of the block I are the elongated rods Hi and Hm which extend through the tubes 8 and 8a., and also through the tubes 9 and 9a.
A lugll is provided on the block I and a pin hook I2 is provided on the tube 8a and between this lug H andthe pin hook I2 is the coiled extensible spring i3 which serves to hold the units in compact relation as shown in Figure 1. A handle l4 extends from the block 5.
drical structure Each block accommodates a striper unit l5. Each of these units consists of a bristle holder Hi from which the bristles a extend and a cylinll connected by the neck l8 to the holder Hi. The cylinder I1 is provided with a conical-shaped opening extending longitudinally therein and is slitted as at I9. The conical opening in the cylinder I1 is threaded to accommodate the conical-shaped screw which has the screw driver receiving kerf in its large end. A bore 22 extends through the block 5, 6
or 1, receiving the cylinder l'l. One end of this bore 22 is threaded as denoted by numeral 23 to receive the handle [4.
Obviously the units 5, 6 and 1 can be spaced away from each other to any extent desired and held by the fingers of the operators hand while the striper is in use.
While the foregoing specification describes the invention in specific terms, it is to be understood that numerous changes in the shape, size and materials may he resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed hereinafter.
Having described the invention what is claimed as new is:
1. A striper comprising a plurality of brushcarrying units and means whereby the units can be adjusted to laterally spaced intervals, said means comprising tubes extending laterally from certain of the units and a rod extending from one end unit, said tubes and rod being disposed in telescopic relation.
2. A striper comprising aplurality of brushcarrying units and means whereby the units can be adjusted to laterally spaced intervals, said means comprising tubes extending laterally from certain of the units and a rod extending from one end unit, said tubes and rod being disposed in telescopic relation, and an extensible coiled spring having one end connected to the outer end portion of the tube of one end unit and having its opposite end connectedto the other end unit for tending to urge the said units into contracted relation.
3. A striper comprising a plurality of brushcarrying units, each of the said units comprising a block and a brush element, each of the brush elements being provided with a split hollow shell adapted to be disposed into a block and a tapered member in the block adapted to be advanced into the said shell to bind the same against the inner side of the block.
