Description

l. ZINSER VOTING BOOTH Nov. 14, 193,9.
Filed Nov. 4, 1938 Patented Nov. 14, 1939 UNITED STATES VOTING BOOTH Irwin Zinser, St. Louis,
Mo., assignor to Gaylord Container Corporation, St. Louis, Mo., a corporation of Maryland Application November 4, 1938, Serial No. 238,722
3 Claims.
My invention relates to Voting booths or the like and has for its principal object a light Weight inexpensive construction which is easily portable and which is easily assembled and disassembled.
The invention consists principally in the voting booth and in the parts and combinations and arrangements of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawing,
Fig. l is a front elevation of a voting booth embodying my invention,
Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof,
Fig. 3 isv an enlarged sectional View on the line 3-3 in Fig. 2,
Fig. 4 is an enlarged sectional View on the line 4-t in Fig. l,
Fig. 5 is an enlarged sectional view on the line 5-5 in Fig. l; and
Fig. 6 is an end view of the booth in the ilat.
Described generally, the voting booth is preferably made ofcorrugated board, berboard or other lightweight material and includes an end Wall l, side walls 2, a Writing shelf 3 and a collapsible frame 4 for supporting said shelf 3, securing the booth in set up position and bracing said booth.
Said frame member 4 is a tubular box-like member with end Walls 5 extending from side Wall 2 to side Wall 2 of the booth and restingI thereagainst. The ends 5 of said frame member have projecting tongues 5 and the side Walls of the booth have corresponding openings l through which said tongues may be inserted, said openings preferably being only partially cut out so as to leave flaps S which hold down the tongues 6. The rear Wall 9 of said supporting frame is preferably spaced slightly from the rear Wall 4l of the booth and the Writing shelf 3 is hinged to the top of the front Wall of said frame 4 and folded against the top of said rear Wall 9.When the booth is set up. Adhesive strips IG may be provided to secure theshelf into position.
The booth may be shipped or delivered substantially in the flat, one end Wall 5 of said frame 4 being secured to one side wall of the booth. In setting up the booth, itis quite simple to place the side Walls 2 thereof in position, set up the frame 4 and secure the second end. Wall 5 thereof to the other side wall 2 of the booth, then folding over the shelf 3 on said frame and securing it in position by the strips I0'.
The above described construction is very simple and inexpensive and it is easily shipped or delivered to a voting place. If used more than one time, the booths may be again disassembled, thus greatly reducing the amount of storage space required and the corrugated board preferably used in the construction of the booth is inexpensive enough that it is practical to use the booth a single time. Obviously numerous changes may be made Without departing from the invention and I do not wish to be limited to the precise construction shown.
What I claim is:
1. A voting booth or the like of corrugated board or like material comprising an end wall and side Walls hingedly connected together, a collapsible tubular frame having end walls adapted Ato t against and brace the side Walls of said booth in set-up position, and a shelf hingedly secured to the top of a side Wall of said frame.
2. A voting booth or the like of corrugated board o-r like material comprising an end Wall and side walls hingedly connected together, a collapsible tubular frame having end Walls adapted to fit against and brace the side Walls of said booth in set-up position, said end Walls having tongues fitting in openings provided therefor in said side Walls and a shelf hingedly secured to the top of a side Wall of said frame.
3. A voting boo-th or the like of corrugated board or like material co-mprising an end Wall and side Walls hingedly connected together, a collapsible tubular frame having end walls adapted to t against and brace the side Walls of said booth in set-up position, said end walls having tongues fitting in openings provided therefor in said side Walls, flaps in said openings bearing against said tongues, and a shelf hingedly secured to the top of a side wall of said frame.
