COLLAPSIBLE PARTITIONED DISPLAY CARTON 2 Sheets-Sheet 1 Filed June 29, 1953 March 3, 1954 T. VANDER LUGT, JR ,673,0 3.
COLLAPSIBLE PARTITIONED DISPLAY CARTON Filed June 29, 1953 2 Sheets-Sheet 2 Hi /iE/7 H /7 77 M 3 are fully open at the front and the third partially open, the structure, as stated, when erected is strong and rigid and it does not collapse without manual manipulation, the collapsing steps being the reverse of what has been described in erecting the carton.
I have illustrated and described a highly practical embodiment of my invention. I have not attempted to illustrate or describe other embodi ments or adaptations as it is believed that the disclosure made will enable those skilled in the art to embody or adapt my invention as may be desired.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A collapsible partitioned carton formed integrally of paperboard cut and scored to provide a bottom, rear, front and end walls hingedly connected to the bottom, the front wall being relatively narrow and centrally located relative to the bottom and constituting the front wall of an intermediate compartment, the rear wall having folding scores extending diagonally outward from their end edges providing hinging flaps, the end walls having rear corner flaps hingedly connected to their rear edges and secured to the inner sides of said hinging flaps, the front wall having partition members hingedly connected to the ends thereof, said partition members having folding scores extending diagonally outward from their inner lower corners to their upper edges and having sealing flaps hingedly connected to their inner ends and secured to the rear sides of said rear corner flaps, the parts when erected coacting to maintain the carton in erected position.
2. A collapsible partitioned carton formed integrally of paperboard cut and scored to provide a bottom, rear, front and end walls hingedly connected to the bottom, the front wall being centrally located relative to the bottom and constituting the front wall of an intermediate compartment, the rear wall having folding scores extending diagonally outward from their end edges providing hinging flaps, the end walls having rear corner flaps hingedly connected to their rear edges and secured to said hinging flaps, the front wall having partition members hingedly connected to the ends thereof, said partition secured to said rear corner flaps, the parts when r erected coacting to maintain the carton in erected position.
3. A collapsible partitioned carton comprising a bottom, rear, front and end walls hingedly connected to the bottom, the front wall being relatively short as compared to the rear wall and of the length of one compartment and centrally located relative to the bottom, the rear wall having folding scores extending diagonally outward from their end edges providing hinging flaps, rear corner flaps hingedly connected to the rear edges of the end walls and to the inner sides of said hinging flaps with end portions thereof free from the rear wall, and partition members hingedly connected to the ends of the front wall, said partition members having folding scores extending diagonally outward from their inner lower corners and having sealing flaps hingedly connected to their inner ends and secured to the rear sides of said rear corner flaps, said partition members having folding scores extending from their inner lower corners diagonally outward to their upper edges, the parts when erected coacting to maintain the carton in erected position.
4. A collapsible partitioned carton comprising a bottom, rear, front and end walls hingedly connected to the bottom, the front wall being relatively short as compared to the rear wall and of the length of one compartment and centrally located relative to the bottom, the rear wall having folding scores extending diagonally outward from their end edges providing hinging flaps, rear corner flaps hingedly connected to the rear ed es of the end walls and to the inner sides of'said hinging flaps, and partition members hingedly connected to the ends of the front wall, said partition members having folding scores extending diagonally outward from their inner lower corners and having sealing flaps hingedly connected to their inner ends and secured to said rear corner flaps, said partition members having folding scores extending from their inner lower corners diagonally outward to their upper edges.
5. A collapsible partitioned display carton formed integrally of paperboard cut and scored to provide a bottom, rear, front and end walls .hingedly connected to the bottom, the front wall being relatively short and narrow as compared to the rear wall and centrally positioned relative thereto and constituting a front wall of an intermediate compartment, the rear wall having hinging flaps at the ends thereof swingable on diagonal lines, the end walls having rear corner flaps hingedly connected to the said hinging flaps with their ends projecting beyond the same, and partition members hingedly connected to the ends of the front wall and having hinged flaps at their rear ends secured to the rear sides of the rear corner flaps, said partition members comprising foldably hinged sections, said partition members when erected being in supported engagement with the bottom and constituting bracing members for maintaining the carton in erected position.
6. A collapsible partitioned display carton formed integrally of paperboard cut and scored to provide a bottom, rear, front and end walls hingedly connected to the bottom, the front wall being relatively short and narrow as compared to the rear wall and centrally positioned relative thereto and constituting a front wall of an intermediate compartment, the rear wall having hinging flaps at the ends thereof swingable on diagonal lines, the end walls having rear corner flaps hingedly connected to the said hinging flaps, and partition members hingedly connected to the ends of the front wall and having hinged flaps at their rear ends secured to the rear sides of the rear corner flaps, said partition members comprising foldably hinged sections.
7. A collapsible partitioned display carton comprising a bottom, rear, front and end walls hingedly connected to the bottom, the front wall being relatively short as compared to the rear wall and centrally positioned relative thereto and constituting a front wall of one compartment, the rear wall having hinging flap portions at the ends thereof foldable thereon, the end walls having rear corner flaps hingedly connected to said hinging flaps with their ends projecting beyond the hinging flaps and at the inner side of the rear wall, and transverse partition members comprising foldably hinged front and rear sections, the front sections being hingedly connected to the ends of the front wall, the rear sections having hinging flaps secured to the rear sides of the rear corner flaps, said partition members when erected being in supported engagement with the bottom and constituting bracing members for maintaining the walls in erected position.
8. A collapsible partitioned display carton comprisin a bottom, rear, front and end walls hingedly connected to the bottom, the front wall being relatively short as compared to the rear wall and centrally positioned relative thereto and constituting a front wall of one compartment, the rear wall having hinging flap portions at the ends thereof foldable thereon, the end walls having rear corner flaps hingedly connected to said hinging flaps, and transverse partition members comprising foldably hinged front and rear sections, the front sections being hingedly connected to the ends of the front wall, the rear sections having hinging flaps secured to the rear corner flaps.
