UNITE STATES PATENT OFFICE.
AZEL H. BELL, OF BELLE PLAINE, IOWA.
IMPROVEMENT IN CHURN-DASHERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 216,643, dated .lnne 17, 1879; application filed March '39, 1879.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AZEL H. BELL, of Belle Plaine, in the county of Benton and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ohurn-Dashers; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being bad to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure l of the drawings is arepresentation of a longitudinal section of my churn-dasher, and Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same.
This invention relates to that class of churndashers having in'flowing divided air-currents-such, for example, as those shown in Patents No. 83,015 of October 13, 1868, and No. 62,129 of February 19, 1867 and it consists of a chnrn-dasher having a hollow handle, and a dasher-body provided with an air-chamber and radial grooves, beneath which is pivoted a perforated plate, the object being to cause the air to enter the body of the cream in several streams, as hereinafter set forth and pointed out in the claim.
Referring to the drawings, A represents the handle of the dasher, having a longitudinal air-passage; a, which leads into an air-chainber, B, in the body of the dasher G.
D represents grooves, which radiate from the, air-chamber, and, when covered by the pivoted plate E, form radial air-passages from the air-chamber, as shown. This plate has one.or more perforations, e, to more perfectly separate the streams of inflowing air.
I claim- The churn-flasher described, consisting of the hollow handle A a and dasher-body 0, having air-chamber B, radial grooves D, and perforated pivoted plate E e, as and for the purposes set forth.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
AZEL H. BELL.
