Description

May .15, 1939- s. P. c. PORTER 2,158,085
AI/)VERTISING DISPLAY CASE Filed June 25,' 1935 annual] Patented May 16, 1939 UNiTEo STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
My invention relates to rotating advertising devices and has for its object to provide a new and eflicient advertising device which may be placed in the window or any other suitable place and which will be provided with separate compaitments to place the articles being shown or the advertisements desired.
A further object is to provide an advertising show Window display which will be mounted on a suitable base and adapted to rotate thereon with the display so mounted that it may be rotated either intermittently or continuously.
A still further object is to provide an advertising display device which will have several compartments therein the size and shape of each compartment being subject to adjustment and variation.
These objects I accomplish with the device illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which similar numerals and letters of reference indicate like parts throughout the several views and as described in the specification forming a part of this application and pointed out in the appended claim.
In the drawing in which I have shown the best and most preferred manner of building my invention,
Figure 1 is a side elevation of the device.
Figure 2 is a section on line 2 2 of Figure l.
Figure 3 is a side elevation of one of the outside vertical dividing standards.
Figure 4 is an edge view of Figure 3.
Figure 5 is a View of the center cylindrical support column, everything removed therefrom.
Figure 6 is a plan view of the device drawn in smaller size with the conical cover removed.
Figure '7 is an inverted view of the bottom of the device showing the annular flanged race ior guiding and supporting the outside edges of the device, also drawn in smaller size.
Figure 8 is a sectional View of the base of the device showing the supports therefor and the driving motor.
In the drawing the showing of the invention illustrates the cylindrical central support as A, with the bottom closed at i, and having a ring 2 formed therein to engage on and rotate on balls 3, which balls are carried in a race supported from a base t. The drive motor M is mounted Within the base i and a shaft 5 connects the motor M with the bottom i of the cylinder A. The motor may be connected directly thereto as shown or may be connected to the bottom through a train of gears with an intermittent drive or if desired the current may be flashed on and off to the motor for intermittent rotation of the cylinder A.
The cylinder A is provided with vertical and horizontal rows of holes or sockets therethrough adapted to receive the lugs of the bottom C or 5 the top D, or of the shelves E, and also adapted to receive the partition B of the device.
The bottom C comprising an annular iron guide portion and a solid circular piece to which said iron guide is fastened is rst secured to the cylin- 10 der A by means of pins projecting from a hole in the center of the circular bottom piece and the number of desired partitions B are then placed on the bottom and secured to the central cylinder A, and the top D is then secured onto l5 the cylinder. Also the side standards F are secured to the partitions and to the top and bottom to properly brace the top to the bottom. The partitions B are shown having lugs Land 8 extending from the edges thereof and said lugs 'l 20 are to be passed through the openings 9 in the central cylinder A and the lugs 8 are to be passed through openings lil in the standards F. 'I'he standards F are provided with lugs l l on the bottom end thereof to be passed through openings I3 in the bottom C', and the top D is provided with an annular depending flange circumferentially therearound said ilange being perforated to receive stud bolts l2 which are secured rthrough the top of the standards F. These stud bolts are passed through the openings I4 in the depending lange of the top D and have nuts screwed thereon to hold them in place.
The shelves for the device are made with lugs on the back side and on the front edge which :2.3 are adapted to be inserted through the openings t in the central cylinder A and through openings in the standards F and the shelves may be set either at an angle or horizontal as desired for showing off the mechandise or advertising to the 40 best advantage. f
Any suitable top G may be secured over the top of the entire device when assembled and the bottom of the device may be enclosed by a flange I-I to cover the operating parts of the device.
The bottom C of the device is provided with an annular angle iron guide l5 as mentioned above with the flange I6 thereof depending from the bottom and a base Ii is set on the surface or ground on which the device is being operated or may be made integral with the base t if desired. This base l1 carries spaced apart sockets i9 carrying balls 20 therein, said balls to engage the angle iron guide in the angle thereof to hold the rigidly vertical and in rotative in any desired vertical row of openings in said cylindrical base and to the holes in the vertical standards and radially situated between the body and the standards; a top secured to the vertical standards and removable adjustable shelves placed between any two vertical partitions with the rear of the shelves secured to the cylindrical body by the holes therein and with the front secured to the vertical standards, to allow the shelves to be set either horizontal or on aslant as 10 desired.
