(CI. 12-37) This invention relates to shoe making machines 26' and a pulley 25 is connected to the worm drive and more particularly to a gluing machine. 26 and is connected to a suitable source of power An object of this invention is to provide a gluing supply as shown in Figure 1. press of the rotary type which is at all times A bell crank 2' has one portion thereof disposed under the control of the operator and which is in the groove of the collar 2 and the other arm so constructed that a relatively rapid drying ad 2" of this bell crank is connected by means of a hesive may be used in the gluing process. rod ii to a releasing lever 6 which is rockably Another object of this invention is to provide a carried by the base or standard 8. A worm drive 26 rotates the shaft A second valve 8 is also interposed in a pipe line l8 connected to a press releasing cylinder [8 mounted on the standard 8. The cylinder [8 has a plunger l1 slidable therein carrying a plate or disk H which is adapted to engage the inner end of a pawl releasing rod H! which is secured to the upper end of the pawl carrying lever 2|. The rod i9 is slidable through the inner ring 29' carried by the wheel I.
The inner end of the form member 5 is secured to a ring member 29 secured for movement with the wheel I. The pressure cylinder IS with the releasing disk IT is disposed laterally of the plunger I! operated in the cylinder l so that after pressure has been applied to the movable form by means of the plunger l l engaging the pressure lever I2 and the wheel I rotates for substantially a complete turn the releasing cylinder i8 releases the pawl M from the ratchet 15 through the releasing ro Hi.
In the use and operation of this device, the work is inserted on the base form 5 and then the pressure lever 4' is pressed down so as to open the valve to the pressure cylinder Ill. The plunger H will then rise and contact with the inner end of the pressure lever l2 and lower the movable form 5' for contact with the material. As the outer end of the lever I2 is lowered the pawl 14 rides over the ratchet l5 so that when the pressure of the cylinder I0 is released the movable form 5 will be held by the pawl M in operative position.
At the same time that the plunger H is rising the valve to the releasing pressure cylinder IB is opened and the next or preceding press disposed in confronting position to the disk I1 is released by outward movement of the plunger 11 which engages the press releasing rod l9. The disk 11 and the plunger H are disposed in different vertical planes, and when the press disposed on the approach side of the disk l1 confronts this disk, the operation of this disk l1 will effect release of the press so that the material may be removed therefrom.
After this operation the lever 4 may be pressed down and downward movement of the lever 4 will release the lever holding pawl 9 so that the treadle or lever 4' may rise to a released position. Downward movement of the lever 4 will effect coupling of the clutch 24 through the lever 23 so as to effect movement of the wheel operating chain 28. As the chain 28 moves through the driving shaft 26' the cam portion of the member 3 will engage the lever 22 and move the drive clutch operating lever 23 into released position in which position the form member 5 will be moved into a position where the releasing rod l9 will then be disposed in confronting position to the press releasing member I'I--l1'.
It will be apparent from the foregoing that a gluing press has been disclosed which is capable of using adhesives capable of relatively quick drying and the number of presses carried by the wheel I may be varied to suit the particular quality of adhesive which is being used.
