Application August 13,
2 Claims.
This invention relates to improvements in coat sleeve forms, and more particularly to such forms as used in displaying garments or the like.
Heretofore in displaying coats for men, women, and children it has been customary to distend the sleeves of such garments by inserting a filler or wadding composed of tissue paper or other material. It is now desirable to devise a form by which the sleeves of a garment may be displayed in the form which the garment assumes to this purpose I have provided a novel type form, which may be quickly attached to a display dummy.
The primary important object of this invenacter which will hold stantially natural play thereof.
Another important object of this invention is to provide a device of the above character in which a minimum of padding is required, but which will present a life-like appearance in use.
A further important object of this invention is to provide a device of the above character in which same may be readily attached to or detached from the torso of the model with which same is used.
A still further important object of the invention is to provide a device of the above mentioned character which is of and a coat sleeve in a subdistended form during the dissonable cost. These and other objects and advantages will be apparent throughout the following description and drawing.
In the drawing:
Fig, 1 is an elevation of the preformed embodiment of the form which is to be inserted within the left sleeve of a coat or other garment;
Fig. 2 is an elevation of the body portion of the form with the padding and covering removed as same appears when looking at the inside face or that portion which lies adjacent the body of the display dummy;
Fig. 3 is an edge elevation of the body of the form with the padding and covering removed, when viewed from the rear;
Fig. 4 is a section on line 4-4 of Fig. 1; and
Fig. 5 is an elevation of a modified type of coat sleeve form with the padding removed.
.1937, Serial No. 159,006
stance the body is formed to be inserted within the left sleeve upper end 5.
Secured to the inner side face of the body member I, intermediate the upper and lower ends of the latter and adjacent its rear convex edge 3, is a built-up off-set or elevated member 6, composed of laminations 1 and 8, the latter having their upper and lower free ends tapered downwardly and outwardly therefrom to merge into the adjacent portions of the body member.
The built-up olf-set or elevated member 6 is formed to similate the muscle or enlarged upper portion of a human arm when viewed in front elevation.
Disposed over the body member and the builtup portion 6 thereof is a uniform layer of cotton, felt, or other suitable material 9 to serve as a padding between said portions and the covering ID of any suitable material, which latter may be secured thereabout in any suitable manner. Secured to the upper arcuate shaped end of the form is a tab II by which the form may be readily connected to the torso or body portion of a display dummy (not shown).
It is to be particularly noted that the built-up or elevated portion 6 has its rear edge of convex curvature so as to conform to and aline with the of the body member, while the front edge of the portion 6 terminates beedges 2 and 3 of the body member and is of substantially ogee configuration when viewed in plan.
Referring to the modified form of the invention as disclosed in Fig. 5, same consists of a body l2 of substantially the same design as the body I disclosed in Figs. 1 and 2, and is provided with a built-up or elevated portion l3 of similar shape, disclosed in Figs. 2 and 3, except that said portion I3 is formed in one piece of any suitable material and connected to the body member I 2.
In use the completed form disclosed in Fig. 1 is connected to the shoulder portions of. a display dummy (not shown) by means of the tab and it is to be understood that a similar form sleeves of the coat, distended and disthe appearance had are placed therein. 7
It is to be understood that the form of my invention, herewith shown and described, is to be taken as a preferred example of the same, and that various changes in the shape, size, and arrangement of parts may be resorted to, without departing from the spirit of my invention, or the scope of the subjoined claims.
Having thus described my invention, I claim:
1. A built-up sleeve form for display purposes, comprising a fiat elongated body having front and rear edges, a laminated member secured to one side face of the body having its rear edge alined with the rear edge of the body and its front edge terminating at a point intermediate the front and rear edges of the body, padding material of substantially uniform thickness disposed over the body and laminated member so as to be deformed by the latter, and a fabric covering completely encasing all of said parts.
2. A built-up sleeve form for display purposes, comprising a fiat elongated body having front and rear edges, a member secured to one side face of the body having one of its edges aligned with the rear edge of the body and another of its edges terminated at a point intermediate the front and rear edges of the body, padding material disposed over the body and member so as to be deformed by the latter, and a fabric covering completely encasing the body, member and padding.
