IMPROVEMENT IN SAM PLE-CASES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 214,892, dated April 29, 1879; application filed February 28, 1879.

provided with lips, grooves, and shoulders, as hereinafter described.
I employ a tube, A, preferably constructed of sheet metal, and having lips or lugs a a, that can be bent up or down to release or hold the stoppers attached at either end.
Encircling the tube near each end are indented grooves 11 b, that in reverse form shoulders G G on the inside of the tube, to prevent the stoppers D D from entering too far. The stoppers are furnished with handles d d for convenience of removal.
E is a diaphragm, of cork, wood, or other mat-erial, placed in the tube to divide it into 'of these diaphragms may be used, to multiply the chambers or receptacles at will, and they are furnished with handles, as shown at f f.
This sample-case is especially adapted to the use of millers and all others dealing in grain or flour, and it is obvious that it can be con veniently used for sampling many other kinds of articles. It possesses advantages over all others with which 1 am acquainted in being cheap, simple, and compact.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A sample-case constructed, as herein shown, of tube A, having lips a a, grooves b b, and shoulders O G, stoppers D D, and diaphragm E.
