My invention affords special facility to the window-dresser or store-keeper in the matter of placement: with the easel reversed, as shown in Fig. 2, the tongue I4 may be conveniently slid under an article displayed, or, either upright or reversed, between the leaves of a book. When suspended, any card inserted in the slot l6 which is open at the bottom must of course be thick enough to be retained therein by wedging action. The device may be set to depend from the front edge of a shelf, an article displayed and to which the matter carried by the easel refers in that case being placed upon the tongue l4.

Referring to Fig. 6, tongue I 4 is omitted and on the opposite sides of plate [2 are formed tabs 2| which, first perforated and fitted with tacks 22, are then doubled back upon plate 12, leaving the tack points protruding rearwardly therefrom, in which form the device may by slight pressure be firmly attached to the edge of a shelf, panel, etc.

While I have described and shown my invention as being made of a combination of sheet metal and wood molding, I also contemplate making the same entirely of metal, or casting the device complete as a molded plastic.

Although the drawing and the above specification disclose the best mode in which I have contemplated embodying my invention, I desire to be in no way limited to the details of such disclosure for, in the further practical application of my invention, changes in the constructional details of the device may be made as circumstances require or experience suggests, without departing from the spirit of the invention within the scope of the appended claims.

What I claim is:

l. A display easel of the character described comprising, a pair of rigid rectangular parallel plates spaced from each other and connected together along only one of their longer edges respectively, wings formed on the opposite shorter side edges of one of the plates, a solid body member held by said wings and spaced from said wingcarrying plate, and means on the other plate for supporting the easel in a plurality of displaying positions.

A display easel of the character described comprising a pair of integral parallel plates spaced from each other so as to provide an unrestricted open groove therebetween, wings formed on the side edges of one of the plates and disposed at right angles thereto, a rearwardly extending prop on the other plate, and a solid member fixed between said wings and spaced from said wing-carrying plate so as to provide a slot open only at the top and bottom thereof.

A display easel of the character described comprising, a pair of integral parallel plates spaced from each other so as to provide a groove therebetween, forwardly bent wings on the side edges of one of the plates, a prop on the other plate, and a strip of moulding held by said wings and having a flat surface of approximately the same dimensions as the plates, spaced from, and parallel with said wing-carrying plate so as to provide a slot open only at the top and bottom thereof.

A display easel of the character described comprising, a pair of integral fiat parallel metal plates spaced from each other so as to provide an open horizontally extending groove therebetween, forwardly bent wings with inwardly crimped edges formed on the opposite ends of one of the plates, a prop formed on and disposed at an angle to the other plate, and a strip of wood moulding between said wings, gripped by said cr mped edges, and having one fiat surface spaced hem said wing-carrying plate so as to provide a vertically extending slot open only at the top and bottom thereof.

5. A display easel of the character described comprising, a pair of integral parallel plates spaced from each other so as to provide an open groove therebetween, a prop formed on and disposed at an angle to one of the plates, wings with crimp-ed edges formed on the opposite ends of the other plate and disposed at right-angles thereto, a strip of moulding having at least one flat surface, said moulding with said flat surface spaced from said wing-carrying plate being disposed between said wings and held by said crimped edges, and said wings conforming in shape to a crosssection of the moulding.
