The portion I1 presents an edge 4I which engages the ears 32 of the clip, while the fingers 39 and lip 40 engage the front side of the frame so as to deiinitely locate this frame and clip in position, whereupon the closing of the jaw to the position such as shown in Figs. 2 and 3, locates the back jaw along the back surface of the frame so that the frame may be well supported between the ends of the ngers 39 and edge of the lip 40 on one side and the back jaw on the other side of the frame. The mounting portion or plate 3| of the clip has an ornament 42 soldered thereon as at 43 so that this ornament provides the other jaw of the clip. Suitable spurs 44 are also provided on the back jaw for gripping fabric or the like, but serve no particular function in the mounting of the clip on the frame.

The foregoing description is directed solely towards the construction illustrated, but I desire it to be understood that I reserve the privilege of resorting to ail the mechanical changes to which the device is susceptible, the invention being defined and limited only by the terms of the appended claims.

I claim:

1. In a clip brooch, a supporting frame, means for attaching the same to a garment, said frame having spaced laterally extending portions leaving a space between them for lateral entrance, a clip. having a pair of jaws movable laterally into said space to position its jaws over one of said portions whereby closing the jaws grips the said portion between said jaws.

3. In a clip brooch, a supporting frame, means for attaching the same to a garment, a clip having front and back jaws with one jaw positioned on one side and the other jaw positioned on the other side of a portion of said frame, snap fastening means between said frame and back jaw to hold the clip and frame assembled comprising a stud on said frame, and a pair of resilient arms on said back jaw to grip said stud.

4. In a clip brooch, a supporting frame, means for attaching the same to a garment, a clip having front and back jaws with one jaw positioned on one side and the other jaw positioned on the other side of a portion of said frame, snap fastening means between said frame and back jaw to hold the clip and frame assembled comprising an integral stud raised from the stock of said frame, and a pair of resilient arms on said back jaw to grip said stud.

5. In a clip brooch, a supporting frame, means for attaching the same to a garment, a clip having front and back jaws with one jaw positioned on one side and the other jaw positioned on the other side of a portion of said frame, snap fastening means between said frame and back jaw to hold the clip and frame assembled comprising a stud on said frame, and a pair of resilient arms on said back jaw to grip said stud, said arms having both ends attached to said back jaw.

6. In a clip brooch, a supporting frame, means for attaching the same to a garment, a clip having front and back jaws with one jaw positioned on one side and the other jaw positioned on the other side of a portion of said frame, snap fastening means between said frame and back jaw to hold the clip and frame assembled comprising a stud on said frame, and a pair of resilient arms on said back jaw to grip said stud, said back jaw being formed of sheet stock and cut out to provide said arms attached at both ends and resilient between said attached ends to grip said stud.

7. In a clip brooch, a supporting frame, means for .attaching the same to a garment, a clip.

In a clip brooch, a supporting frame, means for attaching the same to a garment, a clip having front and back jaws with one jaw positioned on one side and the other jaw positioned on the other side of a portion of said frame, snap fastening means between said frame and back jaw to hold the clip and frame assembled comprising a stud on said frame, and a pair of resilient armsl on said back jaw to grip said stud, said stud being of a long narrow dimension to prevent turning of the clip about the stud as an axis.
