UNITED STATESPATENT OFFICE.-
ER NST BROSEMANN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
IMPROVEMENT IN TRIMMINGS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ERNST BROSEMANN, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful article of manufacture in Trimming for Wearing Apparel; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanyin g drawings, forming a part of the same, in which similar letters of reference indicate like parts.
The object of my invention is to produce an improved article of trimming for wearing apparel; and consists in placing a strip of tinsel or a cord between the folds of cloth, lawn, tarlatan, or other suitable material, which being crimped, tucked, or fluted, as suits the taste of the designer, and subjected to pressure, produces a pleasing and desirable trimmin g heretofore unknown.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a view snowing tinsel inlaid between the folds or tucks of a piece of lawn, which, being subjected to pressure by rollers or otherwise, assumes a fixed condition,'and presents an appearance desirable and pleasing as an article of trimming. Fig. 2 is a section of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is an enlarged view of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a View showing the sameresult obtained by inserting 213,910, dated April 8, 1879; application filed August 15, 1878.
a thread or cord of silk subjected to pressure; and Figs. 5 and 6 are views showing a modification consisting of an angular or corrugated thread, which may be placed between the folds.
In Figs. 1 and 2, A is the material; b b b b, the folds or tucks between which the pieces of tinsel or cords c c c c are placed, and being subjected to pressure of requisite degree produce the article shown. Figs. 3 and 4 show thesame construction as Figs. 1 and 2. Figs. 5 and 6 show the modification, consisting of the thread A of silk floss in an angular or corrugated form, to be placed between the folds of cloth instead of tinsel, which is in like manner subjected to pressure, and produces the article shown.
I have now fully described my invention and the manner of carrying it into effect.
\Vhat I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
As an article of manufacture, the trimming formed by inserting a strip of tinsel, thread, or cord between the folds, substantially as described and set forth.
