A latch-operating mechanism for a latching device which includes a latch operating member, said latch-operating mechanism comprising a support adapted to be secured to a closure member such as a door or the like, a handle pivotally mounted upon the said support andmovable into latch-releasing position in either of two opposite directions, a member pivotally mounted upon the said support and having a portion engageable with the said latch-operating member so as to move the latter into latch-releasing position, a pair of bearing elements carried by the said handle and arranged on opposite sides of the said pivotal mounting of said handle and engageable selectively with the said third-named member so as to move the said portion of the latter into engagement with said latch-operating member, and means normally urging the said third-named member into engagement with'sald bearing elements so as to move the said handle into its normal position substantially midway between the limits of its movement.

A latch-operating mechanism comprising a latch-operating member, a supporting member adapted to be secured to a closure member such as a door or the like, a handle pivotally mounted upon the said supporting member and movable into latch-releasing position in either of two opposite directions, a member pivotally mounted upon the said supporting member and having a portion engageable with the said latch-operating member so as to move the latter into latchreleasing position, .a pair of rollers carried by the said handle and arranged on opposite sides of the pivotal mounting of the latter, and engageable selectively withsald fourth-named member so as to move the said portion of the latter into engagement with said latch-operating member, and a spring normally urging said fourth-named member into engagement with the said rollers so as to move the said handle into its normal or ineffective position substantially midway between the limits of its movement.

A latch-operating mechanism for a latching device which includes a latch-operating member, said latch-operating mechanism comprising a support adapted to be secured to a closure member such as a door or the like, a handle pivotally mounted upon the said support and movable into latch-releasing positionineither of two opposite directions, a member pivotally mounted upon the said support and having a portion engageable with the said latch-operating member so as to move the latch into latch-releasing position, a pair of bearing elements carried by the said handle and arranged on opposite sides of the said pivotal mounting of the said handle and engageable selectively with the said third-named member so as to move the said portion of the latter into engagement with said latch-operating member, and a spring normally urging said third-named member into engageate operating lever amaeso said latch-operating member and being disposed for engagement by portions of said handle when the latter is moved in either of its latch-operating directions.
7. Latch-operating mechanism including a mounting for attachment to a door, a handle pivoted at one end on said mounting and being movable in opposite directions to operate a latch, a latch-operating member supported by said mounting, an intermediate operating lever pivoted at one of its ends on said mounting member and having an opposite end operatively engaging said latch-operating member and being dis- 7 posed for engagement by portions of said handle when the latter is moved in either of its latchoperating directions, together with spring means for said intermediate lever and operable to urge the same against said handle and maintain the latter in a position substantially intermediate its opposite latch-operating positions. 7

Latch-operating means including a substantially elongated support adapted for attachment to a closure, 8. latch-operating member mounted for reciprocable movement near an end of said support and laterally of the same, an intermediate operating lever pivotally mounted at an opposite end of said support and being engageable with said latch-operating member to move the latter in a direction outwardly of the support, a handle mounted at an end on said support at a point between said operating member and the pivoted end of said intermediate lever and movable pivotably in opposite directions against said intermediate lever to move said latch-operating member in the manner aforesaid.
9.-Latch-operating means including a substantially elongated support adapted for attachment to a closure, at latch-operating member mounted for reciprocable movement near an end of said support and laterally of the same, an intermedipivotally mounted at an op-' posite end of said support and being engageable with said latch-operating member to move the latter in a direction outwardly of the support, a handle mounted at an end on said support at a point between said operating member and the pivoted end of said intermediate lever and movable pivotablyin opposite directions against said intermediate lever to move said latch-operating member in the manner aforesaid, and spring means normally urging said intermediate lever back against said end of the handle member to maintain the latter in a position substantially intermediate its two latch-operating positions.
