l Application Augusttl, 1937, Serial No. 158,221
1 Claim.
This invention relatesA to hangers and more particularly to adjustable combined shade and curtain hangers. y y
One of the principal objects of my invention is to provide a hanger equipped ywith means whereby the same 'may be adjusted to flt various sizes of window frames and to accommodate different sizesof shade rollers. Y
Another object of my invention is the provision of a device of the above described character which is easily adjustable to window framesof various sizes,` simple in installation and inexpensive to manufacture. f a 1 y n Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the followingl description, appended claim and annexed drawing, i y
Referring to the drawing wherein like reference vcharacters designate like parts throughout the several views: I
Fig. 1 is a top` plan view of my invention.
Fig. 2 is a detail perspectiveview of one of the frame members. y
Fig. 3 is a detail perspective view of one of the adjustable curtain and shade supporting members. Y
Fig. 4 is a perspective viewof one end of a curtain rod adapted to be attached to the supporting members. j
In teaching my invention, I employ a' pair of frame members 5 adapted to be attached in spaced relation'to a window frame 6 by means of suitable screws 1 or the like. Each of the frame members v is fashioned with upper and lower folds 3 and with elongated sections forming oppositely disposed flanges 9 on the outer ends.I
Each of the flanges 9 is apertured, as at I0, to receive therethrough the securing Screws l. A similar opening I I is formed adjacent the opposite end for the reception of a likejscrew therethrough. Eachof the members 5` receives, be-
tween the folds 8', a curtain and'shade supporting member I2.
The member I2 is formed throughout part of the length thereof with upper and lower folds I3 adapted to be adjustably secured within the folds 8 by frictional engagement therewith. The outer ends of the members I2 are formed with curtain rodholders comprising laterally extending offset sections I4 having tongues I5 for supporting thereon the curtain rod I6:
The curtain rod is of typical telescoping construction provided vvith inwardly extending sections formed with slots Il for supporting engagement with the tongue portions I5.
Intermediate of the offset sections I4 and outer terminations of the foldsl I3; the members I2 are formed with shade roller bearings comprising cutout .portions I9 bent at right angles for operably supporting therebetween .a shade roller 20 inthe ordinary manner. n
From the foregoing, it will be apparent that by adjusting the folds I3 of the members I2 within the folds 8 of the members 5 a variation in the distance between the outer ends of the members l2 may be obtained in order to accommodate shade rollers of different sizes and to fit window frames of different widths.
It is to be distinctly understood that various changes and modifications in construction and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the` spirit of the invention or scope of the appended claim.
Having described my invention, what I claim A combined shade and curtain hanger, comprising, frame members adapted to be secured to a window frame and formed with longitudinally extending folds, and support members each having inner end sections fashioned with longitudinally extending folds slida'ble within said first mentioned folds and frictionally engaging the latter to maintain said support members in adjusted position relative to said frame members and oppositely disposed outer end sections terminating in right angularly disposed offset ends provided with vertically extending tongues adapted for insertion Within slotted ends of a curtanrod whereby to support said rod across the front of said members, said support members fashioned intermediate of said respective sections with right angularly disposed portions forming shade roller bearingswhereby to support a shade' roller and shade across the front face of said frame members between the latter and said rod, said frame members formed at the ends adjacentA said bearings with laterally extending flanges for attaching said frame membersto said window frame, said flanges disposed for sliding engage- A mentlwith theA inner faces of said support members and coacting with the folds of said frame members to maintain said support members spaced from said window frame to precludey engagement of the latter with the window frame,
the folds of the inner end sections merging with f the outer end sections to increase the width of the latter to form shoulders for engaging the folds of the frame members whereby to limit the adjustment of said support members towards each other.
