3 Claims. (Cl. 55-10) One of the objects of the present invention is pins or bolts I6 to each of the sections i2 are to provide a novel, improved and compact golf similar rectangular blocks I'l. Rigidly secured rake which is adapted to be collapsed or folded to each of these blocks adjacent each of the V so as to occupy a minimum space and when so inner edges thereof are rake teeth HS. Pivotally collapsed can be conveniently carried in the golf connected to each of the blocks I'I on each of 5 bag of a golfer so that when the same is unfolded the sections I2 are connecting bars I9 by means and extended it can be used for retrieving golf of bolts 2i). The inner ends` of each of these bars balls from Water hazards or for leveling off sand I9 are pivotally connected by means of bolts 2l traps. to the iixed blocks I4 as clearly shown in Figs.
l0 Another important object of the invention is 2 and 4 ci the drawing. Obviously upon an 10 to provide a novel and improved form of a colactuation of each of the sections I2 about their lapsible golf rake in which the teeth thereof are pivots II on the main section IG they will occupy adapted to be folded so as to occupy a -contigua position substantially parallel to each other as ous position with respect to the handle and in clearly shown in Fig. 4 of the drawing. Se-
addition thereto is provided with a telescopically cured to the center block I0 by a stud 2i and 15 extensible handle for extending the length therea rivet 22' is a bracket 22 which is pivotally seof. cured by means of a bolt 23 to a mainltubular These and other objects are accomplished by handle section 24. Secured to the upper end of providing an arrangement of the Various parts the main handle section 24 is a sleeve 25 which in the manner hereinafter described and particuis provided with an internal annular ange 2@ 20 larlypointed out in the appended claims. which is adapted to engage an external annular Referring tol the drawing: flange 21 formed on the inner end of a telescop Fig. 1 is a perspective View of my improved ing shaft 28 which is telescopically mounted golf rake; Within the main or tubular shaft 24 as clearly 25 Fig. 2 is a cross sectional View taken on the shown in Figs. 1 and 5i of the drawing. The 25 line 2-2 in Fig. l; upper end of the shaft 26 is provided with a han- Fig. 3 is a cross sectional View taken on the dle 29. Adjacent the inner end of the handle 2t line 3-3 in Fig. 2 showing the manner in which is a threaded section as shown at 30 which in all of the teeth may be folded in dotted line turn is adapted to engage the internal threaded position with respect to the handle; portion 3| of the sleeve 25 for securing the ex- 30 Fig. 4 is an enlarged fragmentary view showing tension in compact or collapsed form as shown the manner in which all the teeth of the rake in the full line in Fig. 1 of the drawing. If the as well as the pivoted sections thereof are coloperator is desirous of extending the length of lapsed or folded in compact forni so as to asthe handle, these sections are unscrewed from sume a position substantially parallel to the one another and extended as shown in the dotted 35 main section of the handle; line position of Fig. l.
Fig. 5 is a fragmentary detailed View partly Summarizing the operation of my improved in cross section illustrating the construction of goli rake, l-et us assume that the rake is in the the telescoping handle; and operative or extended position shown in dotted Fig. 6 is an enlarged fragmentary top plan View lines in Fig. l. Pivotally connected to the threaded portion 3U into the threaded portion 40 main or center section I0 by means. of bolts II 3| of the sleeve 25. The rake head may be folded are outer or supplemental raking sections I2. by actuating the sections I2 about their respec- The main section it comprises a prism-like centive pivots I3 on the main section It so as to ter block It to the opposite sides of which are assume the position shown in Fig. 4, after which,
secured, by means of rivets I3, rectangular plates the main section may be actuated about its pivot 50 II'. 23 from the full line position shown in Fig. 3 Secured against the opposite ends of the block to the dotted line position shown in the same figl0' by means of the bolts il are rectangular ure so that the sections I2 as Well as the teeth blocks I4 to which are rigidly Secured the inner of the rake extend in substantial parall-elism rake teeth I5. Pivotally secured by means of With the tubular section of the handle. The rake 55 head assumes a compact form sof that a bag may be placed around the collapsed rake sections and the golf rake inserted in the golf bag of the golfer.
From the above description it will be readily seen that I have not only provided a simple, compact and easily manipulated golf rake and one which assumes little more, if any, space than an ordinary golf club so that th-e same may be conveniently carried by a golfer for retrieving his golf balls from Water hazards or for raking the sand traps of the golf course.
While in the above specication I have described one embodiment which my invention may assume in practice, it Will, of course, be understood that the same is capable of modification and that modification may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as expressed in the following claims.
. What I claim is my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
f l. A golf rake comprising a telescoping handle, `a main rake section having relatively stationary teeth, pivoted to said handle, and supplemental sections pivoted to said main section and having a plurality of pivoted teeth, pivoted to the outer end of said main section.
2. A Igolf rake comprising a telescoping handle, a main section pivoted to said handle and foldab'le With respect thereto, rake teeth secured to said main section, outer rake sections pivoted toy land adapted to be folded With respect to said main section, andy pivoted teeth carried by said outer sections and adapted to be folded in parallelism with respect to said handle.
3. A golf rake comprising a tubular handle, a telescoping extension mounted in said tubular handle, a main rake section pivoted to one end of said tubular handle, spaced apart teeth fixed to said main section, supplemental outer sections pivoted to said main section, pivoted teeth mounted on each of said outer sections, bars operatively connecting all of said pivoted teeth with said main section whereby said outer sections may be folded with respect to said main section and said main section folded With respect to said tubular handle for extending said section and said teeth in parallelism With said handle.
