Description

Nov. 9, 1937. BOEUF 2,098,344 DISPENSER Filed June 23, 1937 Patented Nov. 9, 1937 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
This invention relates to improvements in dispensers and is particularly directed to improvements in dispensers for holy water and the like.
The principal objects of the invention are directed to the provision of a dispenser for holy water and the like which is not only particularly adapted for the purpose intended but is distinctively constructed so that its form is in accord With the use for which the device is especially intended. The device is simple in form so as to be economical to manufacture.
Various other novel features and advantages of the invention will be heinaiter more fully referred to in connection With the accompanying description of the invention in the form at present preferred, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, wherein:
Fig. 1 is a side elevational view of a device embodying the novel features of the invention;
Fig. 2 is an enlarged longitudinal sectional view of the upper part of the dispenser shown in Fig. 1.
Referring now to the drawing more in detail the invention Will be fully described with reference to the drawing.
The dispenser2 has a vertical shaft member 3 and side arm members 6. The latter are secured to member 4 in some suitable manner in order to form a cross as shown.
The central member 4 is preierably rod-like and tubular while the arms 6 are also preferably rod-like and may be tubular if desired. Plastic material, such as cellulose nitrate or cellulose acetate, has been found to be a particularly suitabie material from which to form the rods 4 and 6.
A cap such as 8 is provided in the lower end of the central member 6 so as to close the same and I also preferably have similar caps 9 on the outer ends of the members 6. Not only do such caps serve to close the ends of the mentioned members but they may readily provide ornamentation since they may be also formed of plastic material and of a difierent color from that of which the members 4 and 6 are made.
A barre1 or sleeve 10 is provided in the upper end of the tubular member 4 and this is internally threaded to receive the lower threaded part of a hellow member I2. The sleeve Il) is preferably suitably secured in the tubular member 4 and the member l2 has a fiange l4 to carry a washer I5. The washer [5 is preferably formed of cork and it bears on the sleeve I9 and upper end of the tubular member 4, all as shown.
In the upper end of member l2 there is a nozzle member 3 which is provided with an opening 5 therethrough. A washer 20, which is also provided with an opening, is disposed in the lower end part of said member l2, somewhat after the manner shown.
A cap member 22 has a metal part 24 therein 10 and the latter is internally threaded for engaging an upper threaded end 26 of the member [2. A washer 28 in the member 24 is adapted to bear on the nozzle l8 when the cap 22 is screwed in place to prevent leakage. 15
The cap 22 may also be provided With a part 39 for closing its upper end and this may carry v a part 32 in which is a ring 34. The ring 34 may be attached to a neck or waist cord so that the instrument may be conveniently carried about. 20
It Will be readily seen that the dispenser of the invention is constructed in such a way as to lend itself for the purpose to which it is intended and by simply unscrewing the cap the part 4 may be grasped and the device swung so that water is thrown from the nozzle !8. The parts are readily assembled and yet leakage is unlikely.
Whle I have described the invention in great detail and With respect to a preferred form there- 30 of, it is not desired to be limited thereto since many changes and modifications may be made therein without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. What it is desired to claim and secure by Letters Patent of the United 35 States is:
As a new article of manufacture, a dispensing device of the class described comprising in combination, a vertical hollow tube, horizontallydisposed and aligned side arms secvred to opposite sides thereof to form a cross, a closure cap on the lower end of said tube, the latter having an open upper end and being adapted to hold liquid, an internally-threaded sleeve within the upper end part of said tube, a nozzle member 45 having a lower part in threaded engagement With said sleeve and an upper part projecting above the upper edge thereof, and a closure cap for fitting over said nozzle.
