Description
Nev. 29,1927. 1,650,801
7 c. L. MARCUS CONTAINER Filed March 18, 1922 INVENTOR j 1 ATTORNEY Patented Nov. 29, 1927.
. i STATES ATET OFFICE.
CHARLES LIONEL MARCUS, F NEXV YORK, N. Y.
Y CONTAINER.
Application filed March 18, 1922. Serial No. 544,719.
This invention relates to receptacles or containers forllquids. More particularly the invention is directed to containers for ethereal and volatile liquids such as per Other objects of this invention will in part be obvious and in part hereinafter pointed out. i
The invention accordinglyconsists in the features of construction, combinations of elements and arrangement of parts which will be exemplified in the construction hereinafter described and of which the scope of application will be indicated in the follow ing claim.
In the accompanying drawings, in which is shown one of various possible illustrative embodiments of this invention,
Fig. 1 is a vertical elevational view of a container embodying this invention, partly broken away to show the closure. means; and
Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail cross sectional view of the closure means. 7
Referring in detail to the drawing, the
embodiment of the invention there shown is, seen to comprise an inner vlalor receptacle 10, preferably ofglass, adapted to receive the perfume or other liquid to be dispensed therefrom, and an outer protective jacket 11,
preferably of similar shape to that of the inner vial, and made of metal or other suit able, unbreakable material. A cap 12 is provided for closing the container and is constructed as hereinafter more fully described,
. and extending from said cap. is a stem 13 on which is carried a movable discharge member 14, of any welLknown construction such as used with perfume bottles to. open and close the same as desired for dispensing the liquid. j
The cap 12 comprises an annular head portion 15 preferably of largergdiameter than the jacket and extending therefrom is a tubular portion 16 exteriorly threaded as at 17' for a corresponding interior thread 18 of the jacket at the mouth thereof. Fitted into said tubular portion16 is a cork member'17 of a diameter such as to fit snugly into the mouth of the vial 10. This cork 17 is providedwith a central cylindrical bore 19 for a discharge tube 20 through which the liquid is dispensed from the container, and which .is in registry with a central opening 21 formed in the head 15 of the cap through whichcommunication is made between the container and the discharge member.
In closing the container, the cork'17 is first fitted into the vial 10 thus closing the The tubular member 16 is then same. threaded into the mouth of the jacket until the head 15 is flush with the top thereof, the
glass vial revolving with the cap as it is being threaded into the jacket. In this way the closuremeans both for the vial and the jacket is provided in a compact, unitary de 7 vice, simple both in construction and opera tion.
It will thus be seen that there is provided a device in which the several objects of this invention are achieved, and which is well adapted to meet the conditions of practical use.
Asvarious possible embodiments might be made of the above invention and as various changes might be made in the embodiment above set forth, it is to be understood that all matter herein set forth or shown inthe accompanying drawings is'to be inter preted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense. i I j 1 Having thus described my invention,-- I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent A container for liquids comprising an outer tubular casing having the mouth portion thereof interiorly threaded, a closure cap for said container, said closure cap inmonntable vial frictionally supported from.
said resilient member within and independ' ont of the casing, said tubular extension connecting with the vial for serving as.a means to dispense a fluid from the vial while the latter is positioned within the casing.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
CHARLES LIONEL MARCUS.
