4 Claims.
This invention relates, generally, to wire baskets and the invention has reference, more parn ticularly, to a novel beaded wire basket and to the method of making the same. v'l The principal object ofthe present invention is to provide a novel vbeaded wire basket that may be readily made by children or others by merely following a few simple instructions.
Another object of the present invention lies inthe provision of a simple method by which the novel basket of this invention may be made, ythe said method being such as to train children to Vbecome skilled in the use of their hands.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a novel beaded wire basket that is adapted for a wide variety of uses, and is exceedingly attractive in appearance, the said basket being rug-ged and having a long life in use.
Other objects of this invention, not at this time more particularlyenumerated, will be clearly understood from the following detailed description of the same. Y

Referring now tothe several figures of the drawing, the reference numeral I desi-gnates the novel basket-as a whole, thesaid basket consisting of a bottom portion 2, flaring sides 3 and 35 a handle 4, all of whichparts are made of beaded wire and have the appearance of lattice-work.

Vthe end of the half circle being attached to the '5o squares' at the point 9 thereof by twisting the main stem at least twice around the wire of loop 6'. Three more half circles 8 are now formed h in succession and attached at points 9', r9 and 'I yto theloop 6 byv twisting the main stem around, l .55 vthe'wire of loop 6', thereby forming the structure shown in Fig. 3 constituting a part of the basket bottom.
yTo complete the basket bottom, a beaded wire about 8 inches long is used, and one end of the same attached to the center of one of the half circles 8 by twisting an end of the beaded wire about the central point I0, thereby forming the joint I I. A portion of the beaded wire containing 10 beads is now bent into a crescent shaped loop and attached to the center of the next half circle 8, i. e. at the part I0 thereof, the attachment being accomplished as before by twisting the main stem of the wire twice about the point I, thereby forming a segment I2 constituting a portion of the bottom periphery. Three more segments I2 are now made in succession, thereby completin-g the ybasket bottom as shown in Fig. 4.
In forming the sides of the basket I, a beaded wire about 16 inches long has one end thereof attached by twisting the same upon the center of one of the segments I2, i. e. at a point I3 of the segment. A portion of the wire containing 8 beads is then bent into substantially a half circle I4 and attached to the segment l2 at the next point I3 spaced four beads away. 'I'hen another half circle I4 containing 8 beads is formed and attached to the next point I3 (see Fig. 4) until the first side row of lattice-work is formed.
In forming the second vrow of lattice-work, another beaded wire about 16 inches long has one end thereof attached by twisting to the top center of one of the half circles I4. A portion of the wire containing 8 beads is then bent into substantially a half circle I5 and attached by twisting the main stem of the wire twice about the top center of the next half circle I4 and this is continued until the second row of lattice-work is complete. The third and top row of latticework is similarly formed, thereby completing the sides ofthe basket. If desired, the basket sides may have additional or even fewer rows of lattice-work.
The handle 4 is formed by taking two pieces of beaded wire of the same lengths, for example, l0 inches long and twisting the same together at intervals at the points I6, there being, for example, 8 beads on each wire between consecutive points I6. The ends of the wires are twisted about the top centers of half circle loops Il of the top row of -lattice-work forming the basket sides, thereby completing the basket.
Although a basket of definite size and number of beads used has been described to aid in the understanding of the invention, yet it will of course 'be understood, that the basket may be made of any size desired and that the number of beads used may also be varied as desired. The completed basket has a very attractive appearance and is useful for a variety of purposes, the making of the basket being interesting and instructive, especially to children. f
As many changes couldbe madeV in the above construction and many apparently widely different embodiments of this invention could be made without departing from the scope thereof, as dened by the following claims, it is intended that all matter contained in the above description or shown in the accompanying drawing shall be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.

A basket structure comprising, strands of bendable wire having decorative beads strung thereon so as to be carried thereby, said wire strands being formed into interconnected loop formations, the connections between adjacent loop formations being formed by twisting one portion of a strand .around an adjacent portion at points of intersection between said loop formations. Y
2. A basket structure as dened in claim 1, wherein said loop formations are related one to another in successive rows to form a desired conformation of the ultimate basket structure.
3. In a basket structure, a bottom formed of a pair of strands of bendable wire having decorabeing formed by twisting a strand about a previously formed loop.
4. A basket structure as defined in claim 3, having sides formed of three rows of latticef work, each of said rows consisting of a singleL beaded wire strand formed into a series of loops, the loops of one row being interconnected with those of an adjacent row, and the loops `of the lower row being interconnected with the segment like loops of said bottom, and a handle consisting of a row of loops formed by twisting two beaded wire strands together at regularly occurring mutually spaced points.
