10 Claims.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in a copper or other material pan for the tops of window openings.
The invention has for an object the construction of a device as mentioned which is characterized by the fact that it is composed of a plurality of sections adapted to coact with each other to V produce a single efficient unit.
Still further the invention contemplates the provision of a base section consisting of a rectangular base portion having flanges upon one side and two ends, and a lip on the other side formed by a long center section and several short detachable end sections and adapted to extend and fit across the top of the window openings to shed rain water, melted snow, and other liquids.
Still further the invention proposes the pro-' vision of several odd and even sections adapted to coact with each other and with the base section and to comprise intermediate sections between the base section and a main top section.
It is proposed to arrange the odd sections with a wall portion adapted to engage against the inner face of said flange of the base section of an adjacent even section and to have end flanges to engage the inner faces of the end flanges of an associated even section.
It is proposed to construct the even sections to include a wall portion to extend across and above the end flanges of the adjacent odd sections, and furthermore to include end flanges adapted to be associated with complementary end flanges upon the odd sections.
With respect to the top section it is contemplated to arrange this section with a large base portion surrounded by flanges and formed with a cutout from which edge portions are bent downwardly and arranged to engage portions of an adjacent odd or even section, as the construction may be.
'For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, and to the appended claims in which the Various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.

The copper or other material pan, according to this invention, comprises a base section In, several odd sections ll, several even sections l2, and a top section l3. In'Fig. 2 these various sections are shown assembled. In Fig. 1 they are shown plastered into the wall.
The base section II] consists of a rectangular base portion Ill having a flange IN on one of the sides thereof and connecting with end flanges In At the front the base portion 10 is provided with a long center extending lip Hi and a plurality of short detachable end lips Ill separated from lip I0 and from each other by slots HF, and are adapted to slightly project from thewall directly over the window opening and act as a drip edge. The end sections Ill project from the base portion Ill and are provided with perforations, scoring, etc., at their joining lines so that any number of sections W may be removed by breaking them off at the lines of perforations, scoring, etc., for the purpose of fitting the particular change in bond in the brick layout at the window opening.
Each odd section I l consists of a rear wall portion ll and end flange constructions ll. These end flange constructions are adapted to zig-zag between the bricks of the wall. Each flange construction consists of an end flange portion H extending from the bottom upwards substantially midway of the height of the wall portion l I and continuing into inward extending horizontal continuations II in turn continuing into vertical end flanges I I Each of the even sections I2 consists of a wall portion l2 and end flange constructions l2. Each of these end flange constructions is of zigzag formation to extend between the bricks of the wall. Specifically, it comprises a top end flange l2 extending substantially one half the width of the wall [2 and continuing into an inward directed portion l2 which in turn continues into a downward directed vertical portion IN.
The top section 13 consists of a large rectangu lar base portion 13 having flanges l3 and IE! on its inner side and at its two ends respectively. At the front portion the base portion l 3% is formed with a cutout l3 having flanges I3 and l3 on the inner side and two ends respectively.
The various sections of the pan are assembled as clearly shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 7. Starting from the base section 10 one of the odd sections H is set into the base section so that the wall I l is disposed adjacent the near face of the wall lo and the flanges l l adjacent the inner faces of the flanges H).
