Patented June 29, 1937 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE CONTAINER FOR MARBLES Application August 3, 1935, Serial No. 34,487
1 Claim.
My invention relates to containers and particularly to bags for marbles.
It is an object of the invention to provide a strong and relatively rigid back as a support for a marble bag and to provide a ready means of viewing the contents of the bag from the front of the bag.
It is a further object to provide a back that will also act as a seal for the open top of the bag formed by the back and the front.
It is a further object to provide a bag in which the back can be printed upon for advertising and instruction purposes.
It is a special object to provide a bag for marbles which will be formed of an impervious printable back and top seal so that advertising may appear on both the front and the back, while providing a pervious front through which the marbles may be seen for display purposes.
It is a further object to provide such a bag so that the marbles will lie fiat in layers or rows to facilitate and enhance the display.
It is a further object to provide the front of the bag of such pervious material as net that will yieldingly support the load of marbles.
Referring to the drawing:
Figure 1 is a front elevation with the bag open.
Figure 2 is a front elevation with the bag closed.
Figure 3 is a rear elevation of the bag.
Figure 4 is a section on the line 4-4 of Figure 2 looking inthe direction of the arrows.
Referring to the drawing, numeral l designates a back preferably of card board of stiff paper which has a. sealing flap 2 hinged along the dotted line 3 to the back.
Stitched by the stitches 4 to the front of the back I is a net 5 forming an open work container for the marbles 6. This net stretches to a degree and expands to receive the load of marbles. Strength is imparted to the structure by the relatively stifi back I. The open top of the bag as at 5 1 is closed by the flap 2 when it is turned over as shown in Figure 2 and stapled at 8 to both the net and the bag back I.
In this manner suitable space is provided for advertising and instructions for playing marble 10 games and the front of the bag provides adequate display while retaining the marbles in position and permits the marbles to be moved within the bag and inspected by the prospective purchaser. The marbles are kept in a relatively fiat layer or 5 layers.
It willbe understood that I desire to comprehend within my invention such modifications as may be necessary to adapt it to varying conditions and uses.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
In combination, a relatively rigid paper back and a net front of sumciently large mesh for display covering the paper back, three margins of said front and back being stitched together, a part of the back extending above the unstitched top of the front and adapted to be folded thereover to seal the container so formed, the stitching of the margins holding the net front close to the paper back whereby articles placed in the container will be held in a layer or layers over the back for display purposes.
