The invention relates to'a process and to a device for m-anufact sion from material in powder form without the f a binding agent. Accord jected to a very high that the air or other e material, are removed does not work very Well in actual practice, since by the high pressure needed for compressing the material, particles of this ven into the slits, clogging up A certain amount of the gases will n in the material which gas is comng with it. Since the said gases will hen the briquettes are leaving the briquettes will become porous and inpressed alo expand w press, the
hat it may not readil count of the shortage of material.
The present invention has for its purpose to improve the above process so as to render possible the withdrawal of the major part of the gases present in the material.
According to the invention compression is carried out in at least two phases in such a way that at a predetermined moment during the final phase of the compressing process one or more outlet openings are formed through which the gases still present'in the mass are enabled to escape.
Devices for carrying out this method may be constructed in various ways. It is possible, e. g., 45 to use moulds comprising one or more parts pressed together from the outside by means of bolts or otherwise in such a way that the mould at a given interior pressure is entirely closed.

An embodiment of s is illustrated in the which Fig. 1 is a top view,
Fig. 2 is a section thr ed through which the gases on chosen in such a way that towards the end g action it can no longer offer that one or more small uch a compression mould accompanying drawing in and 1 o ough the said mould ac cording to the line II-II in Fig. 1.
It is shown in the d sion mould consists of provided with a. back 5. tually connected by dra of which may be adjust The tension of the s that ifa given pressu rams 1, 8 on the co mould, the spring ten a narrow slit is forme faces of the parts I,
Instead of the com the counter-ram may b split enabling the ga in the same at the e It is also possibl mould itself of suc end of the compre the ram or the ra becomes a little I claimd e to ssion wider.
ntents of the compression sion is partly overcome and d between the adjacent surms and the bod rawing that the compresto ur parts I, 2, 3, 4, each- The said backs are muw springs 6, the tension able, if desired. prings has been taken so is exerted between the 3 and d.
pression mould the ram or e constructed so that a 25 ses to escape will be formed nd of the compressing action.
