(Cl; 19-130) arm l of a second saddle 8 is mounted adjustably 'I'hepresent invention relates to improvements in high speed spinning, which consists in somewhat condensing the. roving before being fed to the-back rollers and giving the fibres two to '5 fifteen times draft between theback rollers and the succeeding middle rollers as they are passing in a parallel state. "Hitherto, only a small back draft (namely 1.05 to 1.3) has been able to be given to the roving 10 between the back rollers and the succeeding middle rollers and most part of the draft is effected between'the front and middle rollers, because the ro l n supplied tothe back rollers is somewhat .t'wiste'dgand if such a high draft were given l5there, there would be a fear of its disturbing'the v fibres and consequently causing the unevenness of thread.
7 An object of this invention is to provide a method of obtaining a considerably high draft go. between the back rollers and the next middle roll- --w- 1 as providing means to restrain the roving in a somewhat condensed condition while diminishing unevenness and passing the roving between the back rollers and the middle rollers, both said I 5 rollers being suitably weighted.
Another object of this invention is to provide a method of obtaining an over-all draft considerv ably higher than by the ordinary means, combining; said high draft of the first stage between the 30 back and middle rollerswith a high draft of the second stage between the front and middle rollers.
The accompanying drawing illustrates embodiments of the drawing apparatus for carrying out the method according to this invention, in which, 35 Fig. 1 shows the general side view of a drawing frame;

Referring to the drawing, l, l' are a first pair of front rollers; 2, 2'; 3, 3', a'second'and third pair of middle rollers respectively and l, and 4 a pair of back rollers. The rollers are so ar- 45 ranged that the distance between the third middle rollers and the back rollers has a certain length greater than the mean length of the fibre inorder to perform draft from two to fifteen times and that the distance between the second 50 and third rollers has a certain length smaller than the mean length of the fibre to be treated.

The head of the bolt I is provided with a recessto receive one end of a hook II, the other'end of which is connected to a-lever I! by means of a loop or a link 13.; On one end of the lever l2 pivoted to a bearingi l upon the'frame I is suspended a weight |6- by a suitable means. A hand lever I1 is pivoted. on the lever for supporting it upon the frame in order to release the rollers fromthe, weights.
IB is a guide member for a-roving supported by a traverse guide IQ, arranged at a distance somewhat shorter than the fibre treated, from the nip of the back rollers 4 and 4'. The passage of the roving in said guide member is narrowed at the front half of it, and enlarged gradually towards the back end so that the restraining power may be exerted upon the roving asmight happen between the pair of backrollers 4i, 4'.
In this device, the roving, somewhat condensed between the guide tube and the bobbin, passes through the guide tube and receives the restraining action of said tube whose inner diamthe draft. The roving next passes from between the second middle rollers 2 and 2' through the collector (not shown) to the front rollers I and I from which it is delivered. Between these two pairs of rollers, the roving is given a draft of 5 to 20 times, which is the second stage of the draft. a
It may be clearly understood that such a high over-all draft may be obtained by the method according to this invention, considering that the present apparatus consists of two sets of drafting apparatus; namely, the rollers I, l, 2, 2', 3 and 3 as one set and the rollers 3, 3', 4, and 4', and the guide member l8, as another set of draft apparatus, the former set corresponding to a draft mechanism of a ring spinning frame, and the latter set to that of an intermediate frame or of a roving frame.
Suppose that a 20s thread is to be spunwith forty times draft and assuming the draft of first stage, as 4.5, that'of second stage as 9, and the R. P. M. of the front rollers as 200, the number 25 eter at the delivery is somewhat smaller than ofrevolutions per minute of the back rollers should be only one fortieth of those of the front rollers, namely, R. P. M., and those of middle rollers 3 and 3', 22, 5 R. P. M. Thus, it is clear 5 that the rollers 3 and 3' according to this invention effect the same draft upon the roving with only one-eighth revolution of the front rollers of the usual intermediate'or roving frame, the R. P. M. of those frames being usually 170 It is well known that the slower the rotation of the drafting'rollers is, the more uniform the distribution or arrangement of the fibres of different lengths in the roving will be, if the draft is kept constant. In the present invention the rotations of the drawing rollers 3 and 3' are very low as compared with those of the front rollers of the usual intermediate or roving frame. The roving delivered from said rollers provides considerably uniform distribution of fibres with the favourable result that the thread spun by this machine is very strong and uniform in the quality.
This invention is also applicable to the drawing apparatus asshown in Fig. 2, in which a, a. are a pair of front rollers; b, b fixed supporters for revolving belts; 0, cf a pair of middle rollers; e and e', endless revolving belts respectively passing around the rollers Yb, 0 and b, c; d, d, a pair of back rollers and I8 is a guide tube.
I claim:
A high draft mechanism for a spinning frame, comprising in combination, a pair of front rollers, a pair of second rollers situated adjacent said front rollers,a pair 'of third rollers situated adjacent said second rollers, a pair of back rollers situated at a distance from said third rollers which is greater than the mean length of the fibres to be treated, a guide tube having an oriflee, the diameter of which is smaller than the mean diameter of the roving to be treated, a guide bar carrying said guide tube, said guide tube being situated behind said back rollers at a distance therefrom which is less than the mean lengthof the fibres to be treated, and adjustable weighting means connected with said third rollers and said back rollers, the roving to be treated passing through the orifice of said guide tube and then passing consecutively between said back rollers, said third rollers, said second rollers and said front rollers, the relative speeds of the rollers being such that a draft of two to fifteen is ob-' tained in the first stage whereby the roving is subjected to two stages of comparatively high draft.
