The invention, in general, relates to improvements in a table, but more particularly to that type of table ordinarily termed a kitchen table, and in this instance, in particular, the invention contemplates in combination with a table which provides the feature of a dining table, an extendible ironing board, a so-called bread board, a rolling pin, and therprovision of space for the reception of an electric flat iron, and a water sprinkler, and of the ironing board, the bread board, and the rolling pin.
The invention further contemplates a table having the above characteristics having oppositely folding leaves whereby the top area. of the table may be increased from its normal size, and
having, what may be termed, a disappearing ironing board installed therewith which may be withdrawn from within the table frame or sides and be rigidly supported and locked against one Y 20 ofthe side edges of the table top so that, during the operation, of ironing, the board or ironing table can not swing laterally or become loosened from its extended horizontal position.
The invention further contemplates a table 25 having the above characteristics'which requires but the usual space required for an ordinary kitchentable.
A further important object of the invention contemplates the installation of the several items l above mentioned (in a table of the above type whereby the conservation of space, time andV labor, may be obtained, as well Aas the saving of many steps of the housewife or the person in whose place such devices may be installed.
The invention further contemplates `a device having the above characteristics which provides compactness, simplicity of operation` and of construction,Y and which may be manufactured at, comparatively, a very small cost, and which proi- 'vides a table of neat design notwithstanding the addition thereto of the items above mentioned. The invention also provides the installation of an electric device to which the iron may be connected and to which connection may be made to the source of electrical supply.
These and other objects of the invention may be better understood from the several illustrations in the accompanying drawings, and from the description as more fully described in the following specification, and more particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
In the several illustrations,

In the illustrations similar characters refer to similar parts throughout. Y
This invention contemplates an ironing board III, a bread board I I, a rolling pin I2, and, in this instance, a type of table I3, commonly known as a kitchen table, in combination with each other. 'I'he table, in this instance, is,'however, provided with oppositely folding leaves I3', which provides means for enlarging the top area of the table should it be required. The table has the usual top I4, sides or frame I5, and legs I6. In one Side of the frame I5, as side il, an opening I8 is provided through which a tube I9, is inserted and there fastened in any suitable manner in the position shown. The tube provides a receptacle for the rolling pin l2. In another side of fra-me I5, as side 20, is provided an elongated opening or slot 2l, through which the bread board II, may be inserted. The board II is supported by guide rails 22, and is fastened in any suitable manner ito opposite vside frames Ztl, and 23. In side frame l5, as side 24, is provided an opening 2E, which is closed by a hinged closure 26, the purpose of which will be explained later, and, as well, the means for holding the same in its closed upright position. In the side 2li, is suitably fastened double wall-sockets 21, to which electric connection may be made to an electric iron 28, and to the source of electrical supply being located at some convenient place in the room in which my invention may be installed. Extending across from sides 29 to 23, and back from side 24, is provided a shelf or plate 29, having an upstanding portion 30, which provides a place for the reception and support for the iron 28, and a water sprinkler, 3l The plate 29, being fastened in any suitable manner to the side frames 26, 23, and 24.
As previously mentioned, the ironing board I8, may be termed a disappearing ironing board for the reason that it may be returned from its outwardly extended usable position to its unusable or unseen position within the side frames I5, and under the top I4, of the table I3. In this case, the padding, and such like, is not being shown on the ironing board.
The general construction, scheme, and installation of an ironing board to a table, and the position to which it is placed when being used in performing ironing operations, will be clearly understood by referring to, particularly, Figures 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. In this instance, in order to support the board I0, in its outwardly extended position, as is shown in Figures 6 and 7, the board is provided on its one end, as at end I', and on the underside thereof, outstanding lugs 32, which prevent the board from being pried up when a weight or force is being applied upon the top of the board beyond the brace or strut 33, which is hingedly fastened to the underside of the board, as by a hinge 34, placed a suitable distance out from the end I0'. 'I'he remaining portion I0, of the board, beyond hinge 34, is further supported against a hinged brace 35, and is hingedly secured at its -lower endto brace 35, as by a hinge 36, the other 4*or upper end thereof being supported against a stop 31, which is secured by any suitable means to the underside of board I0. In order to further support the board in its extended position, as is shown in Figures 6 and '7, and to prevent the board from being moved or swung laterally from the position shown in Figure 7, an adjustable locking and limit stop mechanism is provided consisting of several parts or members included in which are, in this instance, two pairs of identical telescoping members comprising, in each pair, a permanently positioned rod 38, over which is telescoped a tube 39. The bar or rod 38, is secured through a suitable loop or staple 4I), provided in a plate 4 I, which is securely fastened by any suitable means to the inside of side-frame I1, the bar 38, being suitably formed at its end 38', in a manner such that the same can not be withdrawn from its fastening or loop 46. Over the free end of bar 38, is fastened, as, for instance, by means of sweating together, a short piece of tubing 42, which is adapted to freely slide through the tube 39. Over the end of the .tube 39, as at A39', is threaded a screw-cap 43, having a central opening 44, through which rod 38, is adapted to loosely fit. The tubing 42 and cap 43 provide means for limiting the outward movement of tube 39 when the board I6 is being withdrawn to its Yusable or extended position shown in Figures 6 and 7. The tube 39, being threaded, as at 39, to receive an adjusting or limiting nut 45, is inserted through a suitable opening 46, provided in -an angle-bar 41, which is suitably positioned and fastened by any suitable means, as by screws 48, to the underside of the end I 0', of the board I6.
When the board I0, is in its retracted position Ywithin the side frames I5, of the table, as is shown in Figures 3 and 4, the closure 26, is normally held in its closed position by means of, as for instance,
a spring actuated button catch 49. to withdraw the board I8, for use, the closure 26, is swung open on its hinges 50. The board I8, being withdrawn to its extended position, as particularly shown in Figure 6, causes the telescoping mechanism to be in its extended position, which, being in the proper adjustment, prevents the board I0, from being Withdrawn further than is shown in Figures 6 and 7, that being, to a point where the end of the board and the edge of the table coincide with one another, as at I. In order to bring the board up to the position shown in Figure 6, and so that the stops or lugs 32, are snugly against the underside of the top of the table, the closure 26, is swung back to its normal position, or so that the bottom of the notches 52, provided in the closure, and which match with the tubes 39, press tightly against the tubes 39.
When it is desired to return the board I0, to its normal or unseen position, it becomes only necessary to open the closure 26, release brace 35 from stop 37, and pull out on the brace 33, the board will then drop below the top of the table suiciently so that the board and the telescoping mechanism may be pushed back to its, as before mentioned, normal or out-of-the-way position within the side-frames I5, of the table I3. A longitudinal central support 53, being provided upon which the ironing board is being supported when the same is in its retracted position.
Having thus described my invention it can be readily understood that the minor details of its construction may be altered in several ways without departing from the spirit and scope of the` invention, and without losing any of its attendant advantages. Therefore, what is claimed is desired to be secured by Letters Patent.
I claim:
