Description

0. H. SOHOLLE.
Lamp.
No. 207,369. v PatenteldAug. 27,1878.
A I IIIIHHHHII FEE/-1.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES H. SOHOLLE, OF CINCINNATI, OHIO.
IM PROVEMENT IN LAMPS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 207,369, dated August 27, 1878; application filed July 19, 1878.
To all whom it may concern.-
vBe it known that I, CHARLES H. ScHoLLE, of Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Lighter and Holder, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a front view of my invention, and Fig. 2 is a top view of the base piece containin g the perforations for the draft.
The object of this invention is to combine a lamp for igniting cigars, or for use in any establishment, with a cup for holding the lighters and it consists in forming a can, with a flat upper surface, having a suitable orifice for supplying the receptacle with oil, and also a cup for holding lighters soldered on this surface. A suitable lamp is attached to this upper surface, which is provided with a small chimney to prevent the light from being extinguished by drafts or other causes, the whole being simple in construction, as will hereinafter be fully explained.
In the drawing, A is the oil-receptacle, flattened on its upper surface. An orifice for filling the receptacle is provided in its upper surface, which can be closed by means of a cap, B.
G is acup holding the lighters, and this is soldered on the receptacle. D is a thimble soldered to the receptacle, having its inner surface provided with a thread for attaching the wick-holder H. E is the base-piece for holding the glass, having guards F. G is the glass, attached as in ordinary lamps. Thebase-piece E is perforated, as shown at I, for allowing air to enter and supply the flame.
I am aware that there are lighters somewhat similar to the lamp described, and I am also aware that the different parts here described are not new; therefore I do not claim them broadly; but
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is--- The lamp having the glass and the cup 0 and a flat-top oil-receptacle, A, substantially as herein described and set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have affixed my signature in the presence of witnesses.
CHAS. H. SOHOLLE.
Witnesses J. S. ZERBE, 0. J. BAILEY.
