W. RREDERER PASTE DISPENSER Original Filed Feb. 25, 1933 M 45340 4&2 47 @e 45 Patented Dec. 29, 1936 PASTE DISPENSERv Willibald Riederer, New York, N. Y.`
Beiiled for abandoned application Serial No. 658,554, February 25, 1933. This application March 5, 1936, Serial No. 67,339
1 Claim.
This invention relates to devices for dispensing plastic substances, such as pastas, creams, unguents, etc., from a container having collapsible walls, which upon being compressed cause the contents to exude.
An object of the invention is to provide a holder for such containers, secured in any convenient location, and having means to retain the type ci collapsible tube usually employed therein.
A further feature is in the provision of means, operatively combined with the holder, to cornpress the walls of the tube to any desired extent whereby a suitable portion of its contents is delivered from its mouth.
Another purpose is to provide a stopper for the mouth of the tube, preventing leakage and waste, and also the possible entrance of dirt and foreign substances.
These and other advantageous objects will become'apparent in the following description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, forming a material part of this disclosure, and in which:-
Figure l is a side elevational view of an embodiment of the invention.
Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional view taken on line 2 2 oi Figure 1, and drawn to an enlarged scale.
Figure 3 is a transverse sectional view vtaken on line 3-3 of Figure 1. n
Figure 4 is a similar sectional view taken on line 4-15 of Figure 2.
Figure 5 is a perspective view of the tube and roll carrier.
Figure 6 is a fragmentary view showing a modied form of stopper.
The device consists of a sheet metal rectangular holder IIJ having a bottom secured to a wall W by fasteners il and provided with a cover I2 slidably engaged by flanges extending from the upper edges of theside walls [3-13 which are connected by lower and upper end walls l4-|4'.
A carrier l5, slldable in the holder, is composed of a plate i6 having its ends I1-I1 reduced in width and bent sharply at right angles and hanged outwardly, as at I8-l8', and Iii-I9', the edges of the anges being in slidable contact with the inner surfaces of the holder sides, as best seen in Figure 3.
A central longitudinal slot is formed in the plate Iii and pairs of registering openings 2I-22 are on the end elements I1-I1'.
Mounted in the openings 2| is a iixed spindle 23 on which is a revoluble roll 24 having a rubber jacket 25.
A stud 26 is riveted in the opening 22 vci! the plate i1' to act as a support for a tube 21 on which is nxed a roll 28 covered with an abrasive 29, as emery cloth.
The opposite end of the tube is slotted transversely and extends through the Opening 22 in the plate l1.
Engaged with the tube slots is a dog 36 on the inner end of a driver 3l having a slot 32 in which is entered one end of a coiled torsion spring 33 contained in a cap 34 slidably attached to the holder side i3, this side having a longitudinal slot 35 in which the driver 3l is free to travel, the driver being yprovided with a manually operable knob 3S, which, due to the action of the spring transmits motion in one direction only and prevents reverse movement by reason of its expanding to forcibly contact the interior of the cap. Y
A collapsible tube T has its dat end engaged in the slot 20 of the carrier plate I'S, between the rolls i4-28, see Figures 2 and 3, its neck extending thru an opening 31 in the bottom wall I4 of the holder, so that as the knob is turned the tube is squeezed between the rolls in a. manner considered clearly apparent.
The neck of the collapsible tube is firmly held between a serrated clip 38, fixed on the bottom plate, and similar seri-ations on a. lever 39, pivoted at 40 to the plate I4 and normally drawn into engagement by a tension spring 4|.
In order to cover the orice in the end of the tube neck a plate lever 42 is hinged at 43- to the plate i4, the opposite end of the lever being shaped to present a snap catch 44 having detent 45 engageable with a clip 46 on the plate I4 in such manner as to retain or release a stopper 41, carried by the lever in or from engagement at the tube mouth. m
In Figure 6 the clamp elements 38 to 4l. are omitted and in their place is a knurled nut 48 to be threaded on the tube neck, clamping it against the plate i4, as will be seen.
Although the foregoing is descriptive of the preferred embodiment of the invention it will be apparent that minor changes may be made in its construction, without the exercise of invention or conflicting with the scope of theclaims hereto appended.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new and desired to secure by Letters Patent, is: f
In a paste dispenser, a holder having a longitudinally slotted side, a carrier havingvopposed guides slidable in said holder, said carrier having a. pair of compression rolls non-separably mounted therein, one of said rolls having an abradant surface and the other s yielding surface, manual means for rotating the abradant 5 surfaced roll, a torsion spring arranged to prevent reverse movement of said rolls, a xed detent having serrations to engage the neck o( the coilapsible tube, a. pivoted lever, n, spring actuated serrated detent carried by said lever to engage the opposite side of the tube neck, and a hinged shutter to close the mouth of the tube.
