Abstract

1327954 Sheet material dispensers K WALKER 4 Sept 1970 [11 Sept 1969] 42482/70 HeadingA4G A dispensing container 17 of plastics material in which is mounted a roll 20 of moist sheet material or a dry roll (27) of sheet material which passes through a liquid, Fig.6 (not shown), before being dispensed, is provided with a dispensing passage 24 having a width and thickness equal to the thickness and width of the sheet material such that the interior of the container is closed to the atmosphere when the sheet material is disposed in the slot thereby preventing loss of liquid by evaporation and a cutter 25 for cutting off a withdrawn section of the sheet material. The effective dimensions of the slot may be determined by a pair of sealing lips (38), Fig. 6 (not shown), which engage the upper and lower surfaces of the material. The cutter may be a serrated cutting edge 25 or a blade (58), Figs.8 and 10 (not shown), which moves transversely across the sheet, said material preferably being held in position by gripping pins 26 positioned between the cutter and the slot. The roll may be supported at each end by a pair of parallel guide bars 21 projecting from the inner surfaces of the end covers of the container or by slotted transverse bars (30), Fig. 6 (not shown), on the inner surfaces of the end covers. The container is either hung from the wall or supported on feet 23 formed integral with the container. The roll of sheet material may be pressed downwardly by a spring (32), Fig.6 (not shown), which prevents the material from being excessively unwound when the desired length of sheet material is withdrawn. A box-shaped container (43), Fig.7 (not shown) may be employed, the material being in long folded webs.
