Description

Dec. 1, 1936. w. ZINSELMEYER I v SPINNING CENTRIFUGES FOR ARTIFICIAL SILK Filed May 4, 1932 Patented Dec. 1, 1936 PATENT OFFlCE srnmmo CENTRIFUGES Fon.
ARTIFICIAL SILK Walter Zinselmeyer, -B.emscheid-Lennep, Germany, assignor to American Bemberg Corporation, New York, N. ware Y., a corporation of Dela! Application May 4, 1932, Serial No. 609,302
' In Germany May 4, 1931 11 @laims.
This invention relates to an improvement in spinning centrifuges for use in the manufacture of yarn of artificial origin.
The spinning centrifuge which forms the subject matter of this application is intended for use in the spinning of artificial silk and is such that thethread guide funnel is driven directly from the motor which operates the spinning pot.
In order to produce satisfactorily spun cakes it is necessary accurately to adjust the stroke of the thread guide funnel both as regards position and length to the height of the spinning pot, since the smallest deviations, owing to the summation of the errors at each winding, cause considerable displacement of the filament laye s, the spun cakes being flattened at the ends when the stroke is too small or being compressed when the stroke is too large.
This disadvantage is avoided by the invention by making the stroke of the thread guide funnel adjustable during the operation. For this purpose the curve drum used for controlling the motion of the thread guide funnel is mounted so as to be axially displaceable and it is given'an additional up and down motion, the stroke of which can be adjusted while the apparatus is working.
For this purpose the curve drum 6! at its lower other so that they form a curved guide which is indicated by the lower surface 15 of the flange 62 and which possesses varying inclinations in a radial direction overthe circumference as well as having a circumferentially undulatingcontour.
The engagement with the various curves, now lying in one surface, is attained by axial displacement of the guide element or pin.
The invention has the advantage that the requisite stroke of the thread guide funnel can be adjusted even while the apparatus is working in the simplest possible manner. This is important since the stroke cannot be determined from the outset according to the height to which the spun cake is to be wound but this stroke has to be adjusted according to the varying conditions, more particularly the various thread titres. Furthermore, the device provided by this invention enables difierent spinning pots to be employed without any bother for making spun. cakes or adjusted each time.
The accompanying drawing showsby way of example one constructional form of the apparatus provided by this invention.
In the drawing, the spinning potis indicated by the reference numeral I, and is rotated by a motor 2. A thread guide funnel 3 extends within the center of the pot l for the usual purpose of guiding the filaments. The thread guide 3 is secured to a thread guide rod 4 which is reciprocated through the medium of a pin 5 at its lower end and a rotating drum M with a cam way 6 through which the pin 5 extends. The motor 2 has a shaft extension i which rotates in a stationary bearing sleeve 59. A pinion B is fixed on the shaft I and meshes with another pinion 9 on a short shaft l0 having a pinion It at its upper end which meshes with a gear I! on another short shaft l3 having a pinion l4 meshing with an internal ring gear 11 toothed at 61. The ring gear 11 rotates around the bearing sleeve '59.
The drum cam 6i rotates with'the gear 16 but is axially slidablewith relation to it by reason of a key and slot arrangement. The key I! is secured in the sleeve 76 of the gear ll and is slidable in the groove I6 which is cut in the bearing of the drum 6|. The drum 6| is spring pressed downwardly at 15 against a roller 13 for a reason later described.
It will be seen by reference to the drawing that the curve druih- BI is provided at its lower end with an internal flange 62. The lower surface '15 of the flange 62 is intended as a trackway forpassing over the roller 13. This trackway is circumierentially undulating and at the same time varyingly inclined to the horizontal radial axis of thecamdrumGl.
The roller 13 which contacts with the trackway 15 is adjustably secured in the lower part of the housing 88 and is radially adjustable with respect to trackway 15 by reason of the threaded shank 18. A look nut 14 holds the shank 18 from displacement after an adjustment has been made.
By reason of the varying horizontal radial inwhat manner the same is to be performed, I declare that what I claim is:
