What we claim:
1. An ironing board combination comprising a board element, a cover element adapted overlie the top of the board and be folded underneath the board at its sides, a tightening band extending slidably around the folded under portion of the cover, and a tensioning device secured to. the underside of the board having an open position and" I a closed position and engaged with the tight ening band to tension the sameupon'movement from its open to its closed position, drawing the cover taut across the in two directions. a .r v

An ironing board combination comprising a board element, a flexible cover element overlying the top of the board and folded thereunder along both sides of the board and across the tip thereof, a tightening band extending slidably around the folded under portionof the cover, a tensioning device secured'to theunderside of the board, saidband having ends adapted to be engaged with the tensioning device, saidtensioning device having two positions'at one of which the band is released and'at the other of which the band is drawn taut drawing the cover across the top of the board.

An ironing board combination comprising a rigid board element having a base end and atip end, a flexible cover element overlying'the top surface of the board and folded underneath the board along both sides and across the tip thereof, a tightening band extending slidably around the folded under portion of the cover, a

tightening band extending slidably continuously around the coverand engaging therewith and having. an end portion extending beyond the cover toward the base end of the board, a tensioning device secured to the underside of the board near the base end spaced from the cover and adapted to be engaged with the adjacent ends of the tightening band to tension the band and draw .thec'over taut lengthwise of the board and-crosswise across theupper surface of the board.
5. An ironing board. combination comprising a rigid board having a base and, a tip, a flexible cover adapted toextend over the upper surface of the board to be folded over the edge and'on. to'zthe back, of the board along both sides and. across the tip of the board, a tightening band; extending slidably around the folded over margin of the cover, and means arranged near the, base end'iof the board to which the ends of the band are adapted to be secured and drawn taut vto stretch the cover across the face of the board.
