Description

F. MAYRHOFER. Drag-Saw No. 205,197. 1 Patented June 25,1878.
NVPETERS. Pflofaurnoempnzn, WASHINGTON n c UNITED STATES PATENT OEEIoE FRANK MAYRHOFER, OF DELPHOS, OHIO, ASSIGNOR 'TO H. P. EYSENBAOH.
IM PROVEMENT IN DRAG-SAWS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 205,197, dated June 25, 1878 application filed October 13, 1877.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK MAYRHOFER, of Delphos, in the county of Allen and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Wood Saws and Horses, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings, in
which- Figure 1 represents a perspective view of my invention, and Fig. 2 shows a side View with the apparatus closed.
The object of my invention is to provide a suitable and convenient saw-horse, to which an ordinary wood-saw can be attached, whereby the operator is able to perform the work easier and quicker than with the common horse and saw, and which is also easily adjusted to suit the height of the person using the same.
I will now describe my invention, similar letters of reference indicating corresponding parts.
The letter A represents an ordinary woodsaw, in which the saw-blade is reversed, so that the angles of the teeth point toward the end fastened at E. B is made in the form of a common saw-horse, with two of the legs, B B, produced or extended above the other legs. At the upper ends of these legs or standards a cross-beam, O, is pivoted, into which two parallel pieces, D, are framed and braced far enough apart to admit the saw-guard F to operate between them.
The saw, being pivoted to D at E, is kept in a vertical position by means of the guard F while the saw is in motion, thus relieving the operator of much of the labor incident to this kind of work.
The beam at B is provided with a cap, I, which is simply a movable block, to be taken off and replaced whenever it is worn by continual usage of the saw.
The two pairs of standards are pivoted at J, and are held together at the foot by means of chains G G and secured by pins H H. By either shortening or lengthening the chains the horse is raised or lowered.
In Fig. 2 I represent the horse closed, which makes it convenient to handle or to transport from place to place.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A combined Wood saw and horse, provided with movable standards B B, beam 0, parallel frames D, protection-cap I, chains G G, and guard F, substantially as shown, and for the purpose herein described and set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 11th day of September, A. D. 1877, in the presence of witnesses.
