13 Claims. (01. 2-155) This invention relates to tie supporters.

It is an object of this invention to provide an improved tie supporter which is relatively simple and inexpensive in construction and efficient in use.

Another object of the present invention is to provide an improved tiesupporter for supporting a necktie of the four-inehand-type upon the person of the wearer.

Other objects will appear hereinafter.

The invention consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter described and claimed.

The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawing showing the preferred forms of construction, and in which:

Apreferred form of the present invention as shownin Figs. lto 4 inclusive of the drawing, is therein generally indicated at H], andcomprises a band or strip ll of flexible, resilient material, preferably metal, which is adapted to encircle the neck of the wearer between the folds of a soft collar l2, as shown in Fig. .1.

The present invention contemplates the provision of-a four-in-hand tie, generally indicated at 29, and comprising a knot portion 2|, and a body 5 24, and provided in the knot portion 2|, on at each side of the same, are attaching elements in the form of eyelets or

When the parts are thus positioned the extensions,|| and I9 project upwardly into the fold line. of-the collar and the knot 2| of the tie 2| rests upon the forwardly projecting tongue 13-30 (asshown in. Figs. 1 and 3), and inthis manner the; supporter l0 andtie 20 are kept in proper wearing position and-are caused to present a neat, attractive appearance.

' Afriction element, in theform of a rubber 35 sleeve or the like 4| (Fig. 2) is preferably provided on the band so. as to prevent the same from slipping under and relativeto the folds of the collar when the tie supporter is in use, this friction sleeve engaging the folds of the 40 collar.

A modified form of the invention is shown in Fig. 5, is therein generally indicated at 28, and is'formed from a single length or piece of wire 29.

"The body orlength of wire 29 is formed to 45 provide a cross bar 3| and formed in this cross bar 3| is a-forwardly projecting tongue portion 32 which is adapted to extend under'the knot of the tie when in use. Latchingly engaged with this tongue portion 32 of the cross bar 3| is a 50 hooked end portion 34- of the wire member 29. Likewise formed in the length of wire 29 is a hooked end portion 33 and a looped portion. 30, this loop 30 being formed at one end of the cross bar 3| (Fig. 5).

Also formed in the cross bar portion 3| of the wire member 29 is a loop 35 which projects slightly above the body of the member 29, as shown in Fig. 5, for a reason to be explained presently.

The modified form of the invention shown in Fig. 5 includes a tie 33 and formed in, or attached to, the knot portion 31 of the tie 36-31 are two attaching elements in the form of eyelets or

38 and 39.

In the use of the combination tie and supporter shown in Fig. 5, the hooked end portion 34 of the cross bar 3| is inserted through the; eyelet 38 and the latter is brought around to the position in which it is shown in Fig. 5,'and in which position the eyelet or attaching element 38 is disposed'upon the loop or attaching element 30; the other eyelet or attaching element 39 being attached to the hooked end portion 33 of the member 29.

The supporter 28-29, with the tie 3631 thus attached thereto, may then be inserted under the collar, between the folds of the same, in the same manner as that illustrated in Fig. 1 in connection withthe preferred form of the invention, the

hooked end portion 34 of the supporter 28-49 being then latchingly attached to the tongue portion 32 of the cross bar 3| When the parts are thus positioned, as in Fig. 5, the knot 31 of the tie rests upon the projecting tongue portion 32 of the cross bar 31 and the upper sides of the looped portions 30 and 35 bear up against'the fold line of the collar, thereby keeping the tie supporter 28 in proper wearing position upon the collar and at the same time keeping the tie 36 and its knot 31 in proper wearing position, and thus causing the same to present a neat attractive appearance when in use.

While I have illustrated and described -the preferredforms of construotionfor carrying my invention into effect, this is capable of variation" and modification, without departing from the spirit of the invention. I, therefore, do not wish to be limited to the precise details of construction set forth, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claims.

Having thus. described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent is: e a I I 1. A tie supporter comprising a flexible resilient member adapted to encircle the neck of the wearer between the folds of a collar, said member having an end portion provided with a .slot, and including a forwardly projecting end portion adapted to be projected through said slot so as to hold the supporterinencircling position about the neck of the wearer and between the fold lines of a collar against the action of its own resiliency when in use, said member including,

means for attaching a tie thereto.

A tie supporter comprising a flexible resilient member adapted to encircle the neck of the wearer between the folds of a collar, said member having an end portion provided with aslot, and including a forwardly projecting end portion adapted to be projected through said slot so as to hold the supporter in encircling position about the neck of the wearer and between the fold lines wearer between the folds of a collar, said member having an end portion provided with a slot, and including a forwardly projecting end portion adapted to be projected through said slot so as to hold the supporter in encircling position about the neck of the wearer and between the fold lines of a collar against the action of its own resiliency when in use, said member having formed thereon a pair of spaced laterally projecting attaching elements for attaching a tie thereto, and said member also having formed .thereon, adjacent said attaching elements, a pair of upwardly ex- .tending portions adapted to be projected into the fold lineof a collar when the said tie supporter is in use.

A supporter for a four -in-hand necktie of the type which includes a knot portion having a pair of spaced attaching elements in the form of loops, said supporter comprising a flexible resilient member adapted to encircle the neck of the wearer, between the folds of a collar, when in use, said member including means for detachably latching the relatively free end portions of the same'in-encircling position about the neck of the wearer, when in use, and against the action of 7 detachably attaching said loops 6. 8. *A supporter for a four-in-hand necktie of the type which includes a knot having apair of spaced attaching elements in the form of loops, said supporter comprising a length of flexible, resilient wire adapted to encircle the neck of the wearer between the folds of a collar when in use, said length of wire having means formed therein for detachably latching the relatively free end portions of the same in encircling position about the neck of the wearer when the supporter is in use, and said length of wire having means formed thereon for detachably attaching the said loops of the said knot portion of said tie thereto.

A supporter for a four-in-hand necktie of the type which includes a knot having a pair of spaced attaching elements in the form of loops, said supporter comprising a length of flexible, resilient wire adapted to encircle the neck of the wearer between the folds of a collar when in use, said length of wire having means formed thereon for detachably latching the relatively free end portions of the same in encircling position about the neck of the wearer when the supporter is in use, and said length of wire having means formed thereon for detachably attaching the said loops thereto, said length of wire having a forwardly extending tongue portion adapted to project under the knot of the tie when the supporter is in use.

The combination of: a tie supporter, comprising a flexible resilient member adapted to encircle the neck of the wearer, between the folds of a, collar, when in use, said member including means for detachably latching the relatively free end portions of the same together in position to encircle the neck of the wearer, and a tie comprising a knot portion including a pair of spaced attaching elements, said member including means for detachably attaching said attaching elements thereto.

The combination of: a tie supporter comprising a flexible resilient member adapted to encircle the neck of the wearer, between the folds of a collar, when in use, said member including means for detachably latching the relatively free end portions of the same together in position to encircle the neck of the wearer when in use, and a tie comprising a knot portion including a pair of spaced attaching elements in the form of loops, said member including a pair of spaced laterally projecting attaching elements for the reception of said loops.

The combination of a supporter for a fourin-hand tie comprising a length of flexible resilient wire having means formed thereon for detachably latching the relatively free end portions of the same together in encircling position about the neck of the wearer and between the folds of a. collar, when in use, and a four-in-hand tie comprising a knot portion including a pair of spaced attaching elements, said length of wire having means formed thereon for detachably attaching said attaching elements thereto.

The combination of: a supporter for a fourin-hand tie comprising a length of flexible resilient wire having means formed thereon for detachably latching the relatively free end portions of the same together in encircling position about the neck of the wearer, and between the folds of a collar, when in use, and a four-in-hand tie comprising a knot portion including a pair of spaced attaching elements in the form of loops, said length of wire having means formed thereon for detachably attaching said loops thereto, and said length of wire having a forwardly projecting tongue portion adapted to underlie the knot of the tie when in use.
