Description

June 9, 1936. H. NOLZEN BRUSH AND UTILITY PAINT BOX Filed Aug. 16, 1935 INVENTOR. v filtialzem BY M ' ATTORNEY.
Patented June 9, 1936 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE Claims.
The main object of this invention is to provide a container for paint brushes and other necessities used by a sign painter. The paint brushes are hung in suspended position within the container or canister, and are mounted in such fashion that they will not spot the clothes of the user or the like.
The above and other objects will become apparent in the description below in which characters of reference refer to like-named parts in the drawing.
Referring briefly to the drawing Figure 1 is a cross sectional view thru the canister showing the paint brush in dotted lines mounted on a bracket.
Figure 2 is a front elevational View of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a top plan view of Figure 2.
Referring in detail to the drawing the numeral I0, indicates the front wall of the canister, this canister has a bottom II, and a rear wall I2. At the upper end of the front Wall I0, an outwardly extending lip I3, is provided. This lip has hinged sleeves I4, to which the hinges I5, of a door I6, are secured by a pin IT. The door is retained in normally closed position by a curved resilient finger I8, which latter is secured to lip I3. Within the chamber I9, formed by the rear and front walls I2 and II], respectively the lip I3, and the door I6, a plurality of brackets 20, are secured to the rear wall I2, in the compartment I9, and are adapted to suspend sign painting brushes 2!. A cover 22, has hinged sleeves 23, at its lower end. These hinged sleeves cooperate with similar sleeves formed at the lower portion of the rear wall I2, and are cooperatively secured by a hinged pin 24. Near the upper end of the cover 22, a shelf 23, is provided upon which accessories such as paint cans or the like may be seated. At the upper end of the cover 22, a locking hinge plate 24, is formed and is hingedly connected to the cover, and a hasp 25, cooperates with this member 24. A yoke plate 25, having a carrying loop 21, rotatably mounted thereon is secured to the upper portion 28, of thebanister. The door I8, is provided with a knob 29, by which the former may be swung to open position.
The device is adapted to be used as a canister for holding paint brushes, paint cans, and other sign painting materials. adapted to have paint brushes such as indicated by the numeral 2|, suspended therefrom. The shelf 23, which may be more than one in number are adapted to support paint cans or other sign making materials.
It is to be noted that certain changes in form The brackets 20, are
and construction may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
I claim:
1. In a device of the class described, a container, normal upright brackets in said container, a cover hinged to said container, a curved resilient finger engaging said cover and secured to said container, a door hingedly connected to said container, a shelf on said door for supporting materials and means for securing said door in closed position with respect to said container.
2. A painters tool and brush box formed with a rear wall, a bottom wall at one end of the latter, and a front wall terminating in an upwardly bent and slanting lip portion, means arranged within the box and adapted to receive brushes therein, an elongated lid connected to one end of the rear wall and below the latter, and means for securing said lid in closed position, whereby to provide a separate enclosure at the rear of the box proper.
3. A painters tool and brush box formed with a rear wall, a bottom wall at one end of the latter, and a front wall terminating in an upwardly bent and slanting lip portion, a lid hingedly secured to the latter, means arranged within the box and adapted to receive brushes therein, an elongated lid hingedly connected to one end of the rear wall and below the latter, and means for securing said lid in closed position, whereby to provide storage space at the rear of the box.
4. A painters tool and brush box formed with a rear wall therein, a bottom wall at one end of the latter, and a front wall terminating in an upwardly bent and slanting lip portion, a lid hingedly secured to the latter, a curved resilient finger attached to the lip and adapted to secure said lid in closed position, means arranged within the box and adapted to receive brushes therein, an elongated lid hingedly connected to one end of the rear wall and below the latter, and means for securing said lid in closed position.
5. A painters tool and brush box formed with a rear wall therein, a bottom wall at one end of the latter, and a front wall terminating in an upwardly bent and slanting lip portion, a lid hingedly secured to the latter, a curved resilient finger attached to the lip and adapted to secure said lid in closed position, means arranged within the box and adapted to receive brushes therein, another vertical end wall opposite the bottom wall and horizontally beneath the latter, an elongated lid hingedly connected to one end of the rear wall, and means arranged upon said vertical end wall for engaging and securing the elongated lid in a closed position.
