IMPROVEMENT IN VEHICLE-SPRINGS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 203,508, dated May 7, 1878; application filed February 11, 1878.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J QHN F. THOMPSON, of Cleveland, in the county of Ouyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented a new and Improved Vehicle-Spring; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
My invention relates to certain improvements in vehicle-springs, designed more parstructed in vehicles of this description. B B
are springs attached at b b, by couplings, to short spring-strips O G. D D are clips binding the springs O O to the side bars A A. The springs O O are permanently affixed, by screws at a a, to the side bars. The carriagebody is attached to the springs B B at c c.
The advantages in this device are inthe increased stiffness and strength of the springs by being constructed in the manner shown, and the readiness with Which they may be repaired in case one of the parts becomes broken. They will also cause the vehicle to ride more easily than Where the springs are in one continuous piece, and they may be constructed at small expense.

In a vehicle-spring, the combination of the spring B, short spring-arms O 0, clips D D, and couplings b I), together with the side bars A A, as and for the purposes described and shown.
