UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 2,030,570 HOSE ATTACHING DEVICE Vita Buchanan, New York, N. Y.
Application May 21, 1932, Serial No. 612,718
9 Claims. (01. 2473) My invention relates to improvements in hose obvious that any number of casings may be emsupporting means in corsets, and the same has ployed. for its object to provide an attaching device or The lower rear portion of the corset body which member which may be readily secured to holding constitutes essentially the seat portion of the members depending from the corset, and when garment, is cut away to receive an elastic insert attached will readily accommodate itself to the i5 whose inner edges are secured by sewing to changing positions of the wearer. the cut away portions of said body. 7
Further, said invention has for its object to The lower edge of the seat portion l5 extends provide an attaching device which may be slidslightly below the lower rear edge of the corset 10 ably disposed upon a holding member or elastic, and terminates in two diagonal, oppositely ex- 10 and which will be maintained at substantially tending straps ll, Il to the ends of which are right angles to the strain of the holding memsecured the inner ends of holding members I8, ber upon which the attaching device is disposed. Each eye member 20 has its top bar arranged In the accompanying drawingat an angle to the intermediate and lower bars Figure l is a side View of a corset showing one so as to form a tapering recess 23, and shaped form of holding and attaching means for the to facilitate the engagement of said top bar with opposite sides thereof constructed according to its respective hook member 24. 30 and embodying my said invention; The hook members 24 are secured to the lower Figs. 2 and 3 are face views of right and left edge of the corset; one adjacent to each meeting hand attaching devices, and edge of the garment, and one at each side of the Fig. 4 is a detail face view showing one of the corset. The said hook members may be secured hook members secured at the lower edge of the to the garment in any suitable or convenient 35 corset, and a portion of one holding member with manner, as by sewing, but preferably by riveting, a combined adjusting member and eye which is and for this purpose a bar 26 is provided having adapted to engage with said hook member. a tubular member or eyelet 21 at each end adapted In said drawing l0 designates a corset which to extend through the fabric of the garment and 4.0 may in general be of any desired type, but which, be received by and clamped over eyes 28 profor the purpose of illustrating my present invided at the opposite'ends of the hook members vention, is shown as formed of one piece, being 24. provided at the opposing front edges with the The attaching devices or members l9 are arusual hooks and eyes for securing the same toranged at the inner and outer sides of each leg, l5 gether. The said body portion may be made enand each of said devices has a depending vertical tirely of elastic or of substantially inelastic maloop 29 which, in combination with a button 30, is terial, or the same may be made partly of both of adapted to engage with the upper edge of the said materials, i. e., partly of elastic and partly stocking. Each attaching device I9 is further inelastic material and provided at different points provided at its upper portion with a lower transwith elastic inserts or gores. verse bar 3|, and an intermediate transverse bar 50 The body portion of the corset is preferably 32, which are arranged'parallel to each other to made of inelastic material, and is provided at its form the slot I9 therebetween and substantially sides with vertical casings l2, and at its back and at right angles to the vertical axis of said loop front with casings l3. The casings are adapted 29, the latter being of. reduced width and depend- 05 to receive the usual stays. It wi of course, be .ing from the bar 3| at a location closer to one end thereof than to the other end. Above the intermediate bar 32 is a top bar 33 which is arranged at an angle to said intermediate bar 32, and extends beyond the same at one end thereof. The bars 32 and 33 form therebetween the tapered slot l9 staggered or offset laterally relative to the slot l9 with the wider portion thereof projecting beyond the slot I9 at the end thereof adjacent the depending portion 29. The bars 3 i, 32, 33 are united at their ends by rounded portions 34 forming opposite sides of unequal length extending at an inclination relative to the vertical axis of the device. The several parts are shaped and disposed at suitable angles corresponding to the directions of the several strains to which the device is subjected in use, and to prevent undue wear upon the holding members l8, 18- the transverse members 32 is provided with-an antifrictionroller IS. A small transverse slot 35 is provided to receive a strap 36, the lower end of which may carry the button 30.
Both the attaching members l9, and the eye members 2!] are made in pairs, 1. e., left and right, which are alike in construction, except that the same are reversed.
The operation of the device will be largely obvious from the foregoing description in connection with the drawing. It need merely be noted that by reason of the sliding connection between the attaching devices l9, and the holding members l8, I8 the elastic seat of the garment will be held duly under tension and conformed to the buttocks of the wearer at all times, and in all positions the wearer may assume.
It is to be noted that due to the novel construction of the attaching device l'9, the holding members I8, Ill where the same pass through the said holding device 19, will be held fiat against the legs of the wearer without interfering with the free movement of said holding members relative to said attaching devices I9.
This application is a division of my copending application, Serial No. 133,670, filed September 4, 1926, which has resulted in Patent No. 1,859,550, dated May 24, 1932.
Having thus described my said invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. An attaching device comprising a part including a plurality of transverse portions spaced from each other to provide slots therebetween, a part depending from said first named part and adapted for engagement with a stocking; the upper and intermediate portions of said first named part being disposed angularly relative to each other, and a roller upon said intermediate portion.
2. A device of the character described comprising a part having two substantially parallel slots extending transversely thereof and staggered relative to each other; one of said slots being tapered and having its wider end extending beyond the corresponding end of the other of said slots, and stocking engaging means depending from the slotted part.
3. A device of the character described comprising a part having two substantially parallel slots extending transversely thereof; one of said slots being tapered and having its wider end extending beyond the corresponding end of the other of said slots, and a stocking engaging member depending from the part aforesaid.
4. A device of the character described comprising a part including a plurality of transverse portions spaced relative to each other to provide slots therebetween; one of said slots being tapered from one end towards he other with its wider end extending beyond the corresponding end of the other of said slots, and a stocking engaging member depending from the slotted part.
5. A device of the character describedcomprising a part having upper and lower transverse slots therein staggered relative to each other, and a stocking engaging part depending from the slotted part in closer relation to the end of the lower slot overlapped by the upper slot than to the opposite end of said lower slot.
6. A device of the character described comprising a part having upper. and lower transverse slots therein, the upper slot being tapered and having the wider end thereof extending beyond the corresponding end of the lower slot, and a stocking engaging part depending from the slotted part in closer relation to said corresponding end of the lower slot than to the opposite end thereof.
'7. A device of the character described comprising apart including opposite side portions of unequal length arranged substantially parallel to each other and at an angle to the vertical axis of the device, and a plurality of transverse portions spaced from each other, the upper and intermediate transverse portions being disposed angularly relative to each other, and said side and transverse portions forming upper and lower slots staggered relative to each other, the upper slot being tapered and having the wider end thereof extending beyond the corresponding end of the lower slot, and a stocking engaging part of reduced width depending from said first named part in closer relation to the longer side thereof than to the shorter side.
8. An attaching device comprising a part having a plurality of transverse slots therein, the upper slot increasing in width towards one end and having the wider end thereof extending beyond the corresponding end of the lower slot, and a part depending from said first-named part and adapted for engagement with a stocking.
9. A device of the character described comprising a part having a plurality of transverse strapreceiving slots therein, said slots having their adjacent ends overlapping relative to each other, and a stocking engaging portion of reduced width depending from said first-named part with its vertical axis coinciding with the median line of the device.
