Abstract

A furniture storage bag assembly for protecting an article of furniture from flood waters includes a bag that has a width of at least 48.0 inches, a depth of at least 24.0 inches and a height of at least 48.0 inches to accommodate an article of furniture. The bag is comprised of a fluid impermeable material to protect the article of furniture from flood waters. A closure is provided and the closure is movably integrated into the bag. The closure is slidable into a closed position having the bag being closed. Additionally, the closure forms a fluid impermeable seal when the closure is in the closed position to inhibit the flood waters from entering the bag.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

(1) Field of the Invention.

The disclosure relates to storage bag devices and more particularly pertains to a new storage bag device for protecting an article of furniture from flood waters. The device includes a bag with sufficient dimensions to contain an article of furniture. The device includes a closure that forms a fluid impermeable seal when the closure is closed. In this way the bag and the closure protect the article of furniture from the flood waters.

(2) Description of Related Art including information disclosed under 37 CFR 1.97 and 1.98.

The prior art relates to storage bag devices including a furniture storage device that include a rigid, cardboard from and shrink wrap for enclosing chairs for storage. The prior art discloses a carton with sufficient dimensions to contain an article of furniture. The prior art discloses a furniture bag that includes an inner layer and an outer layer. The prior art discloses a bag that includes a zip-locking closure. Additionally, the prior art discloses a furniture cover that includes a zipper closure. The prior art discloses a waterproof container that includes a pair of magnets that close the waterproof container.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a bag that has a width of at least 48.0 inches, a depth of at least 24.0 inches and a height of at least 48.0 inches to accommodate an article of furniture. The bag is comprised of a fluid impermeable material to protect the article of furniture from flood waters. A closure is provided and the closure is movably integrated into the bag. The closure is slidable into a closed position having the bag being closed. Additionally, the closure forms a fluid impermeable seal when the closure is in the closed position to inhibit the flood waters from entering the bag.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new storage bag device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 5 , the furniture storage bag assembly 10 generally comprises a bag 12 has a width of at least 48.0 inches, a depth of at least 24.0 inches and a height of at least 48.0 inches. In this way the bag 12 can accommodate an article of furniture 14, such a recliner, a sofa or other similar sized article of furniture. The bag 12 is comprised of a fluid impermeable material to protect the article of furniture 14 from flood waters. The bag 12 has a top wall 16, a bottom wall 18 and a perimeter edge 20, and the perimeter edge 20 has a front side 22. The front side 22 is open to access an interior of the bag 12 and the bag 12 has an inside surface 28. Additionally, the bag 12 is comprised of a translucent material to facilitate the article of furniture 14 to be visible in the bag 12 for visually indentifying the article of furniture 14.
A closure 30 is movably integrated into the bag 12 and the closure 30 is slidable into a closed position to close the bag 12. The closure 30 forms a fluid impermeable seal when the closure 30 is in the closed position to inhibit the flood waters from entering the bag 12. The closure 30 comprises a first member 32 that is coupled to the inside surface 28 of the bag 12. The first member 32 is positioned on the top wall 16 of the bag 12 and the first member 32 extends along a full length of the front side 22 of the perimeter edge 20. The closure 30 includes a second member 34 that is coupled to the inside surface 28 of the bag 12 and the second member 34 is positioned on the bottom wall 18 of the bag 12. The second member 34 extends along a full length of the top side 40 of the perimeter edge 20. The first member 32 is matable to the second member 34 having the first member 32 forming a fluid impermeable seal with the second member 34.
The closure 30 includes a slide 36 which comprises a pair of grips 38 that are spaced apart from each other. The slide 36 is positioned on the front side 22 of the perimeter edge 20 and each of the grips 38 slidably engages a respective one of the top wall 16 and the bottom wall 18 of the bag 12. The slide 36 is slidable in a closing direction or an opening direction, and the first member 32 is mated to the second member 34 when the slide 36 is slid in the closing direction. Conversely, the first member 32 is unmated from the second member 34 when the slide 36 is slid in the opening direction. Each of the first member 32 and the second member 34 might comprise a magnet, a zip seal or other type of fluid impermeable closure.
In use, the bag 12 is positioned around the article of furniture 14 to protect the article of furniture 14 from flood waters. The flood waters might be related to a flood, a hurricane or other natural disaster. The bag 12 is oriented such that the top side 40 of the perimeter edge 20 of the bag 12 is positioned on top of the article of furniture 14. The closure 30 is slid in the closing direction the close the bag 12. In this way the article of furniture 14 is protected from the flood waters. The closure 30 is slid in the opening direction and the bag 12 is removed from the article of furniture 14 when the flood waters have receded. In this way the article of furniture 14 can be left in a home during a flood without being damaged by flood waters. Thus, a homeowner can quickly protect their furniture 14 in the event of a flood without having to transport and store their furniture 14.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.

Claims

I claim:

1. A furniture storage bag assembly for protecting furniture from flood water damage, said assembly comprising:

a bag having a width of at least 48.0 inches, a depth of at least 24.0 inches and a height of at least 48.0 inches wherein said bag is configured to accommodate an article of furniture, said bag being comprised of a fluid impermeable material wherein said bag is configured to protect the article of furniture from flood waters; and

a closure being movably integrated into said bag, said closure being slidable into a closed position having said bag being closed, said closure forming a fluid impermeable seal when said closure is in said closed position wherein said closure is configured to inhibit the flood waters from entering said bag.

2. The assembly according to claim 1, wherein:

said bag has a top wall, a bottom wall and a perimeter edge, said perimeter edge having a front side, said front side being open to access an interior of said bag, said bag being comprised of a translucent material wherein said bag is configured to facilitate the article of furniture to be visible in said bag for visually indentifying the article of furniture, said bag having an inside surface; and

said closure comprises:

a first member being coupled to said inside surface of said bag, said first member being positioned on said top wall of said bag, said first member extending along a full length of said top side of said perimeter edge; and

a second member being coupled to said inside surface of said bag, said second member being positioned on said bottom wall of said bag, said second member extending along a full length of said top side of said perimeter edge.

3. The assembly according to claim 2, wherein said first member is matable to said second member having said first member forming a fluid impermeable seal with said second member.

4. The assembly according to claim 2, wherein said closure comprises a slide comprising a pair of grips being spaced apart from each other, said slide being positioned on said top side of said perimeter edge having each of said grips slidably engaging a respective one of said top wall and said bottom wall of said bag, said slide being slidable in a closing direction or an opening direction, said first member being mated to said second member when said slide is slid in said closing direction, said first member being unmated from said second member when said slide is slid in said opening direction.

5. A furniture storage bag assembly for protecting furniture from flood water damage, said assembly comprising:

a bag having a width of at least 48.0 inches, a depth of at least 24.0 inches and a height of at least 48.0 inches wherein said bag is configured to accommodate an article of furniture, said bag being comprised of a fluid impermeable material wherein said bag is configured to protect the article of furniture from flood waters, said bag having a top wall, a bottom wall and a perimeter edge, said perimeter edge having a front side, said front side being open to access an interior of said bag, said bag being comprised of a translucent material wherein said bag is configured to facilitate the article of furniture to be visible in said bag for visually indentifying the article of furniture, said bag having an inside surface; and

a closure being movably integrated into said bag, said closure being slidable into a closed position having said bag being closed, said closure forming a fluid impermeable seal when said closure is in said closed position wherein said closure is configured to inhibit the flood waters from entering said bag, said closure comprising:

a first member being coupled to said inside surface of said bag, said first member being positioned on said top wall of said bag, said first member extending along a full length of said top side of said perimeter edge;

a second member being coupled to said inside surface of said bag, said second member being positioned on said bottom wall of said bag, said second member extending along a full length of said top side of said perimeter edge, said first member being matable to said second member having said first member forming a fluid impermeable seal with said second member; and

a slide comprising a pair of grips being spaced apart from each other, said slide being positioned on said top side of said perimeter edge having each of said grips slidably engaging a respective one of said top wall and said bottom wall of said bag, said slide being slidable in a closing direction or an opening direction, said first member being mated to said second member when said slide is slid in said closing direction, said first member being unmated from said second member when said slide is slid in said opening direction.

6. A furniture protection system for protecting furniture from flood water damage, said assembly comprising:

an article of furniture;

a bag having a width of at least 48.0 inches, a depth of at least 24.0 inches and a height of at least 48.0 inches such that said bag can accommodate said article of furniture, said bag being comprised of a fluid impermeable material to protect said article of furniture from flood waters, said bag having a top wall, a bottom wall and a perimeter edge, said perimeter edge having a front side, said front side being open to access an interior of said bag, said bag being comprised of a translucent material to facilitate said article of furniture to be visible in said bag for visually indentifying said article of furniture, said bag having an inside surface; and
