Abstract
A color coded packing box apparatus for convenient and efficient moving includes a set of sidewalls each having a sidewall top edge and a sidewall bottom edge. The sidewall top edge has a top slit extending into a front sidewall. The sidewall bottom edge has a bottom slit extending into a back sidewall. A top wall is foldably coupled to the sidewall top edge along the back sidewall. A top tab is coupled to the top wall to engage the top slit. A bottom wall is foldably coupled to the sidewall bottom edge along the front sidewall. A bottom tab is coupled to the bottom wall to engage the bottom slit. Each of the sidewalls, the top wall, and the bottom wall are a solid color for visual organization when a plurality of color coded packing box apparatuses are in use.

- The disclosure relates to packing box devices and more particularly pertains to a new packing box device for convenient and efficient moving. The present device includes a plurality of foldable flaps to allow for flat folding as well as easy assembly. There is a pair of closure tabs which eliminate the necessity for tape. Each device is colored to allow for easy organization during moves.
- The prior art relates to packing box devices. Known devices utilize folding boxes that require tape to remain sealed. These devices also typically employ a write in box or receive stickers for organization during moves.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a set of sidewalls including a front sidewall, a back sidewall, a left sidewall, and a right sidewall. Each sidewall of the set of sidewalls has a sidewall top edge and a sidewall bottom edge. The set of sidewalls forms a rectangular prismatic box inside. The sidewall top edge has a top slit extending into the front sidewall. The sidewall bottom edge has a bottom slit extending into the back sidewall. A top wall is coupled to the set of sidewalls. The top wall has a top wall proximal edge foldably coupled to the sidewall top edge along the back sidewall. A top tab is coupled to the top wall. The top tab is foldably coupled to a top wall distal edge of the top wall. The top tab is selectively engageable within the top slit to secure the top wall against the sidewall top edge covering the box inside. A bottom wall is coupled to the set of sidewalls. The bottom wall has a bottom wall proximal edge foldably coupled to the sidewall bottom edge along the front sidewall. A bottom tab is coupled to the bottom wall. The bottom tab is foldably coupled to a bottom wall distal edge of the bottom wall. The bottom tab is selectively engageable within the bottom slit to secure the bottom wall against the sidewall bottom edge covering the box inside. Each of the sidewalls, the top wall, and the bottom wall are a solid color for visual organization when a plurality of color coded packing box apparatuses are in use.

There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new packing box device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 6 , the color codedpacking box apparatus 10 generally comprises a set ofsidewalls 12 including afront sidewall 14, aback sidewall 16, aleft sidewall 18, and aright sidewall 20. Eachsidewall 12 of the set of sidewalls has a sidewalltop edge 22 and asidewall bottom edge 24. The set ofsidewalls 12 forms a rectangular prismatic box inside 26 or collapses for flat storage. Each of thesidewalls 12 may have a sidewallinner face 28 spaced apart from a sidewallouter face 30. Thesidewall top edge 22 has atop slit 32 extending into thefront sidewall 14 between the sidewallinner face 28 and the sidewallouter face 30. Thesidewall bottom edge 24 has abottom slit 36 extending into theback sidewall 16. - A
top wall 40 is coupled to the set ofsidewalls 12. Thetop wall 40 has a top wallproximal edge 42 foldably coupled to the sidewalltop edge 22 along theback sidewall 16. A pair of toplateral flaps 44 may be coupled to thetop wall 40. The pair of toplateral flaps 44 is foldably coupled to a pair of toplateral edges 46 of thetop wall 40. Atop tab 48 may be coupled to thetop wall 40. Thetop tab 48 is foldably coupled to a top walldistal edge 50 of the top wall. Thetop tab 48 is selectively engageable within thetop slit 32 to secure thetop wall 40 against the sidewalltop edge 22 to cover the box inside 26. The pair of toplateral flaps 44 help secure thetop wall 40 in place and seal the box inside 26. The pair of toplateral flaps 44 may extend half way down theleft sidewall 18 and theright sidewall 20. - A
bottom wall 52 is coupled to the set ofsidewalls 12. Thebottom wall 52 has a bottom wall proximal edge 54 foldably coupled to thesidewall bottom edge 24 along thefront sidewall 14. A pair of bottom lateral flaps 56 is coupled to thebottom wall 52. The pair of bottom lateral flaps 56 is foldably coupled to a pair of bottom lateral edges 58 of the bottom wall. The pair of bottom lateral flaps 56 help secure thebottom wall 52 in place and seal the box inside 26. The pair of bottom lateral flaps 56 may extend half way down theleft sidewall 18 and theright sidewall 20 to meet the pair of top lateral flaps 44. - A
bottom tab 60 is coupled to thebottom wall 52. Thebottom tab 60 is foldably coupled to a bottom walldistal edge 62 of the bottom wall. Thebottom tab 60 is selectively engageable within the bottom slit 36 to secure thebottom wall 52 against thesidewall bottom edge 24 to cover the box inside 26. Each of thetop tab 48 and thebottom tab 60 may be trapezoidal with rounded corners to more easily enter the respective top slit 32 and bottom slit 36. - An inner flap 64 may be coupled to the set of
sidewalls 12. The inner flap is foldably coupled to thesidewall bottom edge 24 along theback sidewall 16. After thebottom wall 52 is folded into place with thebottom tab 60 engaging the bottom slit 36, the inner flap 64 is folded down for reinforcement. The inner flap 64 conforms to the shape of the set ofsidewalls 12 to rest against thesidewall bottom edge 24. - Each of the
sidewalls 12, thetop wall 40, and thebottom wall 52 are a solid color for visual organization when a plurality of color coded packingbox apparatuses 10 are in use. In use, the color coded packingbox apparatus 10 allows for a method of use 70 comprising a step 72 comprising having a plurality of items to be moved 66. Astep 74 comprises having the color coded packingbox apparatus 10. Astep 76 comprises packing the plurality of items to be moved 66 within the plurality of color coded packingbox apparatuses 10 with eachitem 66 destined for the same room within the moving destination being placed within color coded packingbox apparatuses 10 of the same color. Astep 78 comprises moving the plurality of color coded packingbox apparatuses 10 to the moving destination. Astep 80 comprises distributing the plurality of color coded packingbox apparatuses 10 to different rooms within the moving destination based on color. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
Claims (8)
1. A color coded packing box system comprising:
a plurality of packing boxes, each packing box including
a set of sidewalls including a front sidewall, a back sidewall, a left sidewall, and a right sidewall, the set of sidewalls each having a sidewall top edge and a sidewall bottom edge, the set of sidewalls forming a rectangular prismatic box inside, the sidewall top edge having a top slit extending into the front sidewall, the sidewall bottom edge having a bottom slit extending into the back sidewall;
a top wall coupled to the set of sidewalls, the top wall having a top wall proximal edge foldably coupled to the sidewall top edge along the back sidewall;
a top tab coupled to the top wall, the top tab being foldably coupled to a top wall distal edge of the top wall, the top tab being selectively engageable within the top slit to secure the top wall against the sidewall top edge covering the box inside;
a bottom wall coupled to the set of sidewalls, the bottom wall having a bottom wall proximal edge foldably coupled to the sidewall bottom edge along the front sidewall; and
a bottom tab coupled to the bottom wall, the bottom tab being foldably coupled to a bottom wall distal edge of the bottom wall, the bottom tab being selectively engageable within the bottom slit to secure the bottom wall against the sidewall bottom edge covering the box inside; and
wherein the sidewalls, the top wall, and the bottom wall of each packing box are a solid color, said plurality of packing boxes comprising a plurality of different colors for visual organization and distinct visual appearance between differently colored packing boxes wherein said plurality of packing boxes are configured for facilitating packing of items into distinguishable groups within same colored packing boxes.
2. The color coded packing box system of claim 1 further comprising an inner flap coupled to the set of sidewalls, the inner flap being foldably coupled to the sidewall bottom edge along the back sidewall.
3. The color coded packing box system of claim 1 further comprising a pair of bottom lateral flaps coupled to the bottom wall, the pair of bottom lateral flaps being foldably coupled to a pair of bottom lateral edges of the bottom wall.
4. The color coded packing box system of claim 1 further comprising a pair of top lateral flaps coupled to the top wall, the pair of top lateral flaps being foldably coupled to a pair of top lateral edges of the top wall.
5. The color coded packing box system of claim 1 further comprising each of the top tab and the bottom tab being trapezoidal.
6. The color coded packing box system of claim 5 further comprising each of the top tab and the bottom tab having rounded corners.
7. A color coded packing box system comprising:
a plurality of packing boxes, each packing box including
a set of sidewalls including a front sidewall, a back sidewall, a left sidewall, and a right sidewall, the set of sidewalls each having a sidewall top edge and a sidewall bottom edge, the set of sidewalls forming a rectangular prismatic box inside, the sidewall top edge having a top slit extending into the front sidewall, the sidewall bottom edge having a bottom slit extending into the back sidewall;
an inner flap coupled to the set of sidewalls, the inner flap being foldably coupled to the sidewall bottom edge along the back sidewall;
a top wall coupled to the set of sidewalls, the top wall having a top wall proximal edge foldably coupled to the sidewall top edge along the back sidewall;
a pair of top lateral flaps coupled to the top wall, the pair of top lateral flaps being foldably coupled to a pair of top lateral edges of the top wall;
a top tab coupled to the top wall, the top tab being foldably coupled to a top wall distal edge of the top wall, the top tab being selectively engageable within the top slit, to secure the top wall against the sidewall top edge covering the box inside;
a bottom wall coupled to the set of sidewalls, the bottom wall having a bottom wall proximal edge foldably coupled to the sidewall bottom edge along the front sidewall;
a pair of bottom lateral flaps coupled to the bottom wall, the pair of bottom lateral flaps being foldably coupled to a pair of bottom lateral edges of the bottom wall; and
a bottom tab coupled to the bottom wall, the bottom tab being foldably coupled to a bottom wall distal edge of the bottom wall, the bottom tab being selectively engageable within the bottom slit to secure the bottom wall against the sidewall bottom edge covering the box inside, each of the top tab and the bottom tab being trapezoidal and having rounded corners;
wherein the sidewalls, the top wall, and the bottom wall of each packing box are a solid color, said plurality of packing boxes comprising a plurality of different colors for visual organization and distinct visual appearance between differently colored packing boxes wherein said plurality of packing boxes are configured for facilitating packing of items into distinguishable groups within same colored packing boxes.
8. A method of organizing packing boxes comprising:
having a plurality of items to be moved;
having a plurality of color coded packing boxes, each packing box comprising:
a set of sidewalls including a front sidewall, a back sidewall, a left sidewall, and a right sidewall, the set of sidewalls each having a sidewall top edge and a sidewall bottom edge, the set of sidewalls forming a rectangular prismatic box inside, the sidewall top edge having a top slit extending into the front sidewall, the sidewall bottom edge having a bottom slit extending into the back sidewall;
a top wall coupled to the set of sidewalls, the top wall having a top wall proximal edge foldably coupled to the sidewall top edge along the back sidewall;
a top tab coupled to the top wall, the top tab being foldably coupled to a top wall distal edge of the top wall, the top tab being selectively engageable within the top slit to secure the top wall against the sidewall top edge covering the box inside;
a bottom wall coupled to the set of sidewalls, the bottom wall having a bottom wall proximal edge foldably coupled to the sidewall bottom edge along the front sidewall; and
a bottom tab coupled to the bottom wall, the bottom tab being foldably coupled to a bottom wall distal edge of the bottom wall, the bottom tab being selectively engageable within the bottom slit to secure the bottom wall against the sidewall bottom edge covering the box inside;
wherein the sidewalls, the top wall, and the bottom wall of each packing box are a solid color, said plurality of packing boxes comprising a plurality of different colors for visual organization and distinct visual appearance between differently colored packing boxes wherein said plurality of packing boxes are configured for facilitating packing of items into distinguishable groups within same colored packing boxes;
packing the plurality of items to be moved within the plurality of color coded packing boxes with each item destined for the same room within the moving destination being placed within packing boxes of the same color;
moving the plurality of packing boxes to the moving destination; and
distributing the plurality of packing boxes to different rooms within the moving destination based on color.
