Abstract
A hair waving cap assembly for inducing waves in hair includes a cap, which can be positioned on a head of a user so that the cap substantially covers a scalp of the user. The cap is resiliently stretchable and is sized smaller than the head of the user. The cap can be stretched for insertion of the head of the user thereinto, after which the cap rebounds so that the cap is removably engaged to the head of the user. A set of protuberances is engaged to an inner surface of the cap and extends therefrom. Each protuberance exerts pressure upon hair positioned between the protuberance and the scalp of the user to induce a wave in the hair.

- The disclosure relates to cap assemblies and more particularly pertains to a new cap assembly for inducing waves in hair. The present invention discloses a cap assembly comprising a stretchable cap comprised of polyester and one of either silk or nylon, wherein the cap has a set of protuberances positioned on an inner surface thereof for inducing a wave in hair of a head upon which the cap is positioned.
- The prior art relates to cap assemblies. Prior art cap assemblies may comprise bands positionable around heads of users, such that flexible members attached to the bands extend laterally across the heads of the users, flexible caps having cords engaged to inner surfaces thereof, caps with means for engaging combs to hair, and dual capping devices configured for molding hair positioned therebetween. What is lacking in the prior art is a cap assembly comprising a stretchable cap comprised of polyester and one of either silk or nylon, wherein the cap has a set of protuberances positioned on an inner surface thereof for inducing a wave in hair of a head upon which the cap is positioned.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a cap, which is configured to be positioned on a head of a user so that the cap substantially covers a scalp of the user. The cap is resiliently stretchable and is sized smaller than the head of the user. The cap is configured to be stretched for insertion of the head of the user thereinto. The cap is configured to rebound so that the cap is removably engaged to the head of the user. A set of protuberances is engaged to an inner surface of the cap and extends therefrom. Each protuberance is configured to exert pressure upon hair positioned between the protuberance and the scalp of the user to induce a wave in the hair.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

FIGS. 1 through 9 thereof, a new cap assembly embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 9 , the hair wavingcap assembly 10 generally comprises acap 12, which is configured to be positioned on a head of a user so that thecap 12 substantially covers a scalp of the user. Thecap 12 is resiliently stretchable and is sized smaller than the head of the user. Thecap 12 is configured to be stretched for insertion of the head of the user thereinto. Thecap 12 is configured to rebound so that thecap 12 is removably engaged to the head of the user. A set ofprotuberances 14 is engaged to aninner surface 16 of thecap 12 and extends therefrom. Eachprotuberance 14 is configured to exert pressure upon hair positioned between theprotuberance 14 and the scalp of the user to induce a wave in the hair. - The set of
protuberances 14 and thecap 12 comprise one or more of polyester, nylon, and silk. The set ofprotuberances 14 and thecap 12 may comprise polyester and one or more of nylon and silk. The set ofprotuberances 14 comprises aprotuberance 14, which extends spirally from proximate to acenterpoint 18 of anupper limit 20 of thecap 12 to proximate to acircumference 22 of alower limit 24 of thecap 12, as shown inFIG. 4 . A representation of the wave in the hair produced by theprotuberance 14 is shown inFIG. 8 . The present invention anticipates the set ofprotuberances 14 comprisingprotuberances 14 of other shapes, each of which would produce a corresponding wave in the hair of the user. For example, the set ofprotuberances 14 could comprise concentrically positioned circles (not shown), parallel arcs (not shown), and the like. - A
fastener 26 engaged to thecap 12 proximate to thelower limit 24 is configured to selectively engage the head of the user so that thecap 12 is fixedly positioned upon the head of the user. Thefastener 26 may comprise a pair ofstraps 28, as shown in FIGS. 1-7, or other fastening means, such as, but not limited to, ear loops, elastic bands, and the like. - The pair of
straps 28 may be positioned on thecap 12 so that the pair ofstraps 28 extends from aback 30 of thecap 12, as shown inFIGS. 5-7 . Eachstrap 28 is configured to be grasped in a respective hand of the user so that the user is positioned to pull upon thestraps 28 to decrease thecircumference 22 of thelower limit 24 and to tighten thecap 12 to the head of the user. The user is positioned to knot thestraps 28 to fixedly position thecap 12 upon the head of the user. - The pair of
straps 28 also may be positioned on thecap 12 so that thestraps 28 extend singly fromopposed sides 32 of thecap 12, as shown inFIGS. 1-4 . Eachstrap 28 is configured to be grasped in a respective hand of the user so that the user is positioned to pull upon thestraps 28 to tighten thecap 12 to the head of the user. The user is positioned to knot thestraps 28 to fixedly position thecap 12 upon the head of the user. - In use, the
hair waving cap 12assembly 10 enables amethod 34 of inducing a wave in hair. Themethod 34 comprises afirst step 36 of providing acap 12 described in the specification above. A second step 38 of themethod 34 entails stretching thecap 12 over the head of the user so that thecap 12 substantially covers a scalp of the user. Athird step 40 of themethod 34 is allowing thecap 12 to rebound so that thecap 12 is removably engaged to the head of the user, with eachprotuberance 14 positioned to exert pressure upon hair positioned between theprotuberance 14 and the scalp of the user. Afourth step 42 of themethod 34 is allowing thecap 12 to remain upon the head of the user for a length of time sufficient to induce a wave in the hair. Afifth step 44 of themethod 34 is removing thecap 12 from the head of the user. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
