- The present application claims priority to, and the benefit of, U.S. Provisional Application No. 63/149,447, which was filed on Feb. 15, 2021 and is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.
- The present invention relates generally to the field of pillows. More specifically, the present invention relates to a sleeping pillow attachment that can be placed on any pillow or bedding and has a capability for deterring or minimizing the formation of sleeping lines and wrinkles on a user's face during sleeping in any position. The attachment is made from a compressible memory foam along with copper and bamboo. More specifically, the attachment includes a central section to support the user's head in a supine position, and the face in a prone position. A right-side section prevents pressing of the face against the pillow or bedding when the user sleeps in a right lateral position, and a left-side section prevents pressing of the face against the pillow or bedding when the user sleeps in a left lateral position. A neck support section slopes downwardly from the central section for providing support to the neck and spine of the user. Accordingly, the present disclosure makes specific reference thereto. Nonetheless, it is to be appreciated that aspects of the present invention are also equally applicable to other like applications, devices and methods of manufacture.
- By way of background, pillows or head support devices are necessary items that allow individuals to sleep peacefully and comfortably. Pillows used for sleeping have remained largely unchanged, typically being made of a rectangular textile covering stuffed with natural feathers, a comparable synthetic material, or any compressible foam. However, conventional pillows are a source of skin wrinkles. Generally, skin wrinkles are a part of the aging process that are caused by a lack of collagen and a reduction in elasticity, however, individual habits also contribute to early wrinkling of the skin. One specific type of wrinkles that individuals develop include sleep wrinkles. Sleep wrinkles develop in response to distortion created when the face is pressed against any sleep surface such as conventional pillows or any other bedding. Soft pillows such as cotton pillows and pillowcases can also cause sleep wrinkles. Compression, shear and stress forces can result in facial distortion when individuals lay in lateral positions, sleep on their stomach or while in prone positions. Generally, a human head weighs 11 pounds and can cause pressure on the face during sleep that can cause sleep wrinkles. Studies have shown that sleep wrinkles disappear immediately on younger skin, but eventually become permanent from constant compression and decreased skin elasticity with age. To overcome wrinkles, including sleep wrinkles, individuals end up having injections of collagen and Botox which not only involve chemicals but are also expensive.
- Generally, individuals are unaware about sleep wrinkles and even individuals who are aware attempt the solution of sleeping in a supine position to prevent sleep wrinkles. However, it is not always possible for individuals to sleep in a supine position. Some individuals like to sleep sideways and always sleep in lateral positions that increase the chances of sleep wrinkles. Individuals also try to find anti-wrinkle pillows. However, individuals find it hard to leave the conventional pillows that they have been using. Further, conventional pillows absorb, or rub off, the night creams and serums applied by users prior to laying down which then reduces the efficacy of the creams and serums.
- Therefore, there exists a long felt need in the art for an anti-wrinkle pillow device that prevents permanent sleep lines and wrinkles. There is also a long felt need in the art for an anti-wrinkle device that can be used along with conventional pillows. Additionally, there is a long felt need in the art for an anti-wrinkle pillow device that can be used as an attachment or add-on to conventional pillows or any type of bedding. Moreover, there is a long felt need in the art for a pillow attachment that eliminates pressing of a user's face into a conventional pillow or any type of bedding. Furthermore, there is a long felt need in the art for a pillow attachment that allows night creams and serums to last longer after having been applied to a user's face. Finally, there is a long felt need in the art for a pillow attachment that allows users to still enjoy the benefits of an anti-wrinkle pillow, without losing the shape or form of their regular or conventional pillow.
- The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment thereof, comprises an anti-wrinkle pillow attachment designed to be placed on any pillow or bedding. The anti-wrinkle pillow attachment features a top surface and a bottom surface. The top surface provides a central section, a right-side section, a neck support and a left-side section. The central section is used for positioning the rear of the head of a user when the user sleeps in a supine position or is used for positioning the face of the user when the user sleeps in a prone position. The attachment can include an embedded cooling gel for taking heat out of the head or face of the user. The neck support slopes downwardly from the central section for supporting the neck and a portion of the shoulders of the user. The right-side section extends laterally to the right of the central section and is used for accommodating the user when sleeping in a right lateral side position, wherein the right-side section comprises two right arms forming a right U-shaped space therebetween, and the lower of the two right arms form a right shoulder support with the neck support. The left-side section extends laterally to the left of the central section and is used for accommodating the user when sleeping in a left lateral side position, wherein the left-side section comprises two left arms forming a left U-shaped space therebetween, and the lower of the two left arms form a left shoulder support with the neck support.
- In this manner, the pillow attachment of the present invention accomplishes all of the forgoing objectives, and provides users with an attachment that can be placed on any conventional pillow or bedding. A user can still use a conventional pillow while avoiding pressing of the face against the pillow or bedding. The user can sleep in any sleeping position without worry of getting sleeping lines or wrinkles. The attachment also prevents morning eye puffiness caused by lying flat.
