Abstract

A cap (1) for a smoke pipe (2) that fits over a burn tube (3) that sealably fits over a distal end of the smoke pipe to extinguish a burning substance in the smoke pipe and prevent users from burning themselves or causing fire.

Description

    FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • This invention relates to smoking pipes and more particularly to a cap for a smoking pipe that is placed over the burn tube of the pipe when the pipe is not in use.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • Smoking pipes for smoking tobacco, marijuana and other substances consist of a metal burn tube into which the substance is placed and lighted and have a rubber handle into which the burn tube is inserted and held by a smoker. Generally such smoke pipes do not have a cap for covering the burn tube to extinguish the burning substance, so users often burn themselves or if left uncovered could cause harm to someone or an unwanted fire.
  • In view of the above problems, a need exists for a cap for a smoke pipe that will extinguish a burning substance in the burn tube and prevent users from burning themselves or causing a fire.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The primary object of the present invention is to provide a cap for a smoke pipe that prevents a user from burning themselves, causing harm to others or fires.
  • The present invention accomplishes the above and other objects by providing a cap having proximal end with an internal circumference that accommodates the external circumference of a holder for a burn tube, said cap having an internal elongated aperture that accommodates a burn tube and an external gripping surface for a user so when said cap is placed over the burn tube in said holder a sealable contact results so a substance burning in said burn tube is extinguished.
  • DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • In the following detailed description, reference will be made to the attached drawings in which:
  • FIG. 1 is a side plan view of smoke pipe having a hand holder for holding a burn tube inserted therein;
  • FIG. 2 is a side plan view of a smoke pipe cap of the present invention;
  • FIG. 3 is a proximal end view of a smoke pipe cap of the present invention; and
  • FIG. 4 is a side plan view of a smoke pipe cap of the present invention sealably attached over a burn tube and holder.
  • DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
  • For purposes of describing the preferred embodiment, the terminology used in reference to the numbered accessories in the drawings is as follows:
      • 1. smoke pipe cap, generally
      • 2. pipe
      • 3. burn tube
      • 4. pipe mouthpiece
      • 5. pipe inhalation aperture
      • 6. pipe aperture
      • 7. burn tube proximal end
      • 8. distal lip of smoke pipe
      • 9. burn tube intake
      • 10. cap proximal end
      • 11. cap sealing lip
      • 12. cap aperture for smoke tube
      • 13. cap distal end
      • 14. cap elongated side
      • 15. burn tube vent section
      • 16. cap aperture for burn tube vent section
      • 17. cap aperture for burn tube
      • 18. cap aperture for smoke pipe distal lip aperture
      • 19. cap aperture for burn tube vent section
  • Discussing the preferred embodiments of the smoke pipe cap 1 of the present invention, reference is made to the drawings. FIG. 1 illustrates a side plan view of a smoke pipe 2 holding a burn tube 3 therein. The smoke pipe has a mouthpiece 4 on a proximal end 5 with an inhalation aperture 6 that extends from the mouthpiece to a proximal end 7 of a burn tube. The burn tube 3 has a vane section 15 which helps dispel heat from a burning substance inserted into an open intake 9 and lighted to be in turn inhaled through the mouthpiece aperture 5.
  • Referring to FIG. 2 a side plan view of the smoking cap 1 of the present invention is illustrated. The cap 1 has a proximal open end 10 that is sized to accommodate the pipe lip 8 so that when the lip 11 of the cap 1 is inserted over the distal lip 8 of the smoke pipe 2 a sealable connection is formed so that any burning substance within the burn tube 3 is extinguished. The cap 1 also has an internal aperture 19 to accommodate the vent section of the burn tube 15 and an aperture 12 to accommodate the elongated distal end of the burn tube 12. The distal end 13 of the cap 1 can be manipulated by a user's fingers to cover a hot burning section of a smoke pipe burn tube without burning themselves.
  • FIG. 3 illustrates an end view of a smoke pipe cap 1 of the present invention showing the internal apertures, a aperture 17 for the elongated distal end of the burn tube 3, an aperture 16 for the burn tube vent section 15 and an aperture 18 for the smoke pipe lip 8 for forming a sealable connection when attached over the distal lip of the smoke pipe 2.
  • Finally, FIG. 4 illustrates the entire assembly with the smoke cap 1 sealably placed over the entire burn tube 3, 15 and 7 with the other components of the system labeled and discussed as previously.
  • Thus, as described hereinabove, there has been presented a novel and nonobvious smoke pipe cap that will help eliminate burns caused by conventional smoke pipe systems. It is to be understood that while a preferred embodiment of the invention is described, it is not to be limited to the specific form or arrangement of parts herein described and shown. It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various changes may be made without departing from the scope of the invention and the invention is not to be considered limited to what is shown and described in the specification and/or drawings.

Claims (2)

Having thus described my invention, I claim:
1. A cap for a smoke pipe, said smoke pipe having a burn tube for containing and burning a substance and a holder for the burn tube, said cap comprising:
a proximal end having an internal circumference that sealably fits over the holder of the burn tube; and
an elongated internal aperture that accommodates a length of a burn tube; and
a distal end that can be gripped by users for attaching or removing said cap from the burn tube.
2. A smoke pipe system comprising:
a smoke pipe having a mouthpiece on a proximal end and a burn tube holding aperture on a distal end with a inhalation conduit aperture extending from the proximal end to the distal end;
a burn tube for containing and burning a substance inserted into the aperture on the distal end of the smoke pipe; and
a cap with a proximal end having an internal circumference that sealably fits over the holder of the burn tube and an elongated internal aperture which accommodates a length of a burn tube and a distal end that can be gripped by users for attaching or removing said cap from the burn tube.
