IMPROVEMENT IN SUSPENDER- BUCKLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 202,039, dated April 2, 1878; application filed June 21, 1877.
To all whom it may concern Be it knownthat I, GEORGE W. McGILL, of the city and county of New York, in the State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Suspender-Buckle; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
My invention relates to an improved, strong, cheap, and simplified mode of constructing that class of Suspender-buckles which are furnished with a hookfor attaching the suspenderends; and consists in providing the buckle with a double-pointed wire tongue having its base twisted and swaged so as to form a bodyloop to receive the end of the Suspender-strap, ang a hook to receive and hold the suspenderen s.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents my buckle complete, and Fig. 2 represents it applied to a suspender, as intended.
A represents the frame of the buckle, and B its tongue. The tongue B is twisted and swaged so as to form the body-loop c, coiled neck d, and supplemental hook e. The bodyloop 0 is equal in width with the buckle, G
represents the suspender-strap; g g, the suspenderends, and 9' their connecting-ring. The neck d is coiled or twisted, to give the buckle and its supplemental hook 0 additional strength, and prevent the same being drawn out of shape.
The buckle so made is attached to a suspender-strap' in the ordinary manner-to Wit, by running the said strap G throughthe buckle to the desired point, forcing the'points of the tongue B through the strap, and running the end of the suspender-strap down through the body-loop c. The suspender-ends g g are attached to the buckle by running its hook 6 through their connecting-ring.
What I claim herein as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In an improved suspender-buckle, the buckletongue B, provided with the twisted extension 61, terminating in the hook 0, all made of one piece 'of wire, in combination with the buckle-frame A, as herein shown and described, for the purposes specified.
