2 Claims.
The present invention relates to a register for reminding one of certain things which it is desired not to forget. This register is capable of being used in various different manners.
The important object of the invention resides in the provision of a reminding register or indicator of this nature which is exceedingly simple in construction, very inexpensive to manufacture, easy to manipulate, and thoroughly eflicient and reliable in use.
With the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a front elevation of a register embodying the features of my invention,
Figure 2 is a top plan view thereof,
Figure 3 is a side elevation thereof,
Figure 4 is a vertical section therethrough taken substantially on the line 4-4 of Figure 1,
Figure 5 is a front elevation of the upper left hand corner showing one of the elements in one position and another of the elements in another position,
Figure 6 is a side elevation of one of the indicators, and
Figure '7 is a rear elevation thereof;
Referring to the drawings in detail it will be seen that the numeral 5 denotes a rectangular panel on which are mounted a plurality of horizontal rows of indicating elements denoted generally by the letters E. A detailed description of one of these elements E will suffice for all. Each element is in the form of a block of a somewhat L-shaped formation providing one leg 6 of relatively large thickness and another leg I. The leg 1 tapers from the leg 6 toward its extremity. The lower rear corners of the leg 6 are out out to provide notches 8-8 separated by a relatively thin partition 9. The partition 9 is adapted to be received between a pair of ears Ill and a pin I2 extends through the ears and through an opening in the partition 9 thereby swingably mounting the element on the panel and there is sufficient friction between the ears and the partition to hold the element in any particular set position. The surfaces of the recesses are arcuate and concentric with adjacent edges of the ears ll, both being concentric with respect to the pin l2. On the extremity of the leg 6 there is a pair of inturned cleats It for holding a card 15 on which may be printed suitable indicia such as indicated by way of example in Figure 2 should the register be used as a household reminder. When the elements are disposed in what I may term as nonindicating position as shown in Figure 1 it will be 5 seen that the indicia on the card is not readily visible but any one of the elements may be swung down to the position shown to the left of Figure 5 so that the indicia on the card may be readily visible. But housewives as they need 10 various groceries or the like may tilt down these indicating elements and when it is time to make up the order or go to the store these may be used as reminders.
It is thought that the construction, operation, utility and advantages of this invention will now be clearly understood without a more detailed description thereof.
It will also be readily appreciated that there are numerous other different ways in which the apparatus may be used.
The present embodiment of the invention has been described in considerable detail merely for the purposes of exemplification since in actual practice it attains the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description.
It will be apparent that changes in the details of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described the invention what is claimed as new is: 1. A reminding register of the class described comprising a. panel, an indicating element swingably connected with the panel, and means for holding cards on the element, said element being in the form of a substantially L-shaped block having one leg of comparative thickness and the other leg of comparative thinness and the comparatively thin leg tapering outwardly from the other leg, said comparatively thick leg having its outer lower corners cut away to provide recesses separated by an apertured partition, a pair of apertured ears carried by the panel, the pair of cars straddling the partition and seated in the recesses, and a pin extending through registering openings in the ears and partition.
2. A reminding register of the class described comprising a panel, an indicating element swingably connected with the panel, and means for holding cards on the element, said element being in the form of a substantially L-shaped block 5 having one elge of comparative thickness and the other leg of comparative thinness and the camparatively thin leg tapering outwardly from the other leg, said comparatively thick leg having its outer lower corners cut away to provide recesses separated by an apertured partition, a pair of apertured ears carried by the panel, the pair of ears straddling the partition and seated in the recesses, a pin extending through registering openings in the ears and partition, said means for holding the cards being in the form of inturned cleats on the outer ends of the relatively 5 thick legs.
