Description

    CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION
  • This non-provisional utility application claims the benefit and priority to U.S. Provisional Application Ser. No. 62/868,049 filed Jun. 28, 2019, entitled “Sleep-in Beauty Pillow,” the entire contents of which is hereby incorporated herein by reference.
  • BACKGROUND
  • When a person gets their hair or makeup done by stylists, she can be in the stylist's chair for long periods of time which can cause stress on the neck, among other areas. Even after the hair or makeup is complete, the person may not want to disturb their makeover when, for example, laying down on a bed.
  • SUMMARY
  • A sleep-in beauty pillow is configured as a support element to be placed around a neck to protect and preserve the wearers hair and makeup, such as while sleeping. In other applications, the beauty pillow can be used to provide support to the user's neck or chin while the user is getting his or her hair and/or makeup done. The beauty pillow is comprised of polyester silk and includes memory foam to provide comfort to the user.
  • The support element of the beauty pillow tapers in height on both ends. While a bottom of the beauty-pillow is substantially flat, both tapered ends of the beauty pillow gradually increase in height to a respective peak. Each respective peak gradually decreases in height to form a recess, or plateau, at or near a center of the beauty pillow. The center recess is used to provide support to a portion of the user's body, such as the chin or neck, when the user is getting his or her hair or makeup done, respectively.
  • Velcro™ is attached on both end portions of the beauty pillow which can be used to attach and detach the beauty-pillow from around the user's neck. By using Velcro™, the beauty-pillow can accommodate a range of neck sizes (e.g., from thin to thick). While Velcro™ is depicted in the figures, other fastening mechanisms are also possible, such as tab and notch, friction fit, etc.

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • FIGS. 1-3 show illustrative representations of asleep-in beauty pillow 105 which can be used by a wearer to help prevent a made up hair or makeup from ruin. The beauty pillow has two end portions, a left end portion 120 and a right end portion 125, and further includes a an inside portion 110 and an outside portion 115. The inside portion may be where the user lies his or her head or chin, depending on the use. For example, as shown in FIG. 2, the beauty pillow forms a recess or plateau 205 (hereinafter “recess”) in which both opposing sides inclines to form the recess. The recess may be used, for example, as a resting spot for a user's head or chin.
  • FIG. 4 shows an illustrative representation in which the beauty pillow 105 can be comprised of a foam 405 material on the inside for comfort and support. The foam may be, for example, memory foam that can accommodate a given user's structure. The outside portion or surface of the beauty pillow, which encases the foam, may be polyester silk 410 to provide comfort for the user when she rests her head, chin, or other body part on the beauty pillow.
  • FIGS. 5 and 6 of the beauty pillow 105 show the beauty pillow in a detached position such that the pillow is linearly arranged. The beauty pillow may be detached as such—and therefore in an opened position—in order for the user to insert her head or chin. For example, the user may place the rear of her lower head and her neck on the recess 205 portion, and then wrap the left and right end portions 120, 125 around to the front of the user's neck for attachment and closure.
  • As shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, the end portions may connect using some attachment mechanisms 510, 605, such as a hook-and-loop fastening mechanism, like Velcro®, or other fastening mechanism, such as a press-fit, tab and notch, etc. For example, one fastening mechanism 510 and a corresponding fastening mechanism 605 may be respectively utilized on the left and right end portions 120, 125 to connect both ends together. While hook-and-loop type fasteners are depicted in FIGS. 5 and 6, these are exemplary only and other fastening mechanisms may be similarly positioned so that both end portions can connect.
  • As shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, opposing sides of the beauty pillow 105 may taper downward on the left and right end portions 120, 125 to the respective end points, as representatively shown by numerals 505. The bottom (opposite) surface of the beauty pillow, however, may be at least substantially flat. The curvature and structure of the beauty pillow may be to accommodate a user's head when the pillow is wrapped around. Furthermore, and as discussed above, both end portions may reach a peak adjacent a center portion of the beauty pillow, and then incline to form the recess 205 in the center thereof, which is utilized to accommodate the user's chin or neck.
  • FIG. 7 shows an illustrative schema of exemplary uses for the beauty pillow 105, as representatively shown by numeral 505. For example, non-exhaustive use cases for the beauty pillow include placing a chin or front portion of neck on the beauty pillow's center recess 510, placing a rear portion of the user's neck on the beauty pillow's center recess, connecting both ends of the beauty pillow or keeping the pillow in a flat position 520, among other uses.
  • The disclosed beauty pillow comes in various embodiments. In one example, a beauty pillow, comprising: a left end portion and a right end portion, wherein the left and right end portions attach and detach to each other using a fastening mechanism, wherein the beauty pillow tapers in height toward a left and right end points from respective peaks positioned on lateral sides of a center portion of the beauty pillow, and wherein a recess is formed at or near the center portion of the beauty pillow, the recess being formed by an incline from each peak toward the center portion of the beauty pillow.
  • In another example, the beauty pillow is comprised of polyester silk. As another example, the beauty pillow is further comprised of memory foam, in which the memory foam takes up the interior of the beauty pillow and the polyester silk encases and provides an exterior surface for the beauty pillow. As another example, the decrease in height from the peaks toward the recess is gradual. As another example, the fastening mechanism is a hook-and-look fastener which are positioned on the left and right end portions of the beauty pillow.
