Abstract

It is a portable cover for lifebuoys that facilitates their transport due to its small size, while its velcro-type closure make possible enough resistance to allow for expansion when the lifebuoy is activated by a sensor-actuator, when contact with the water is made.

Description

    THE FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to a Portable Cover for a Lifebuoy.
  • The field of the application is related to rescue and self-preservation, with particular emphasis on rescue at sea.
  • STATE OF THE ART
  • Thus far, lifebuoys have come housed inside packages and compartments mainly located in particular places on marine vehicles. They were not intended for use outside the context of a journey at sea. This meant that they were not marketed as everyday objects of self-preservation in all those water-based activities that carried a risk of drowning.
  • OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
  • Therefore, the present invention presents a Portable Cover for a Lifebuoy, which not only allows for the use of a Lifebuoy in a conventional manner, but also allows for its transport and personal use, both on shore excursions and at the beach, in any water-based activity.
  • For all these reasons, the novelty of the present invention represents an evident and substantial improvement over anything known in the current state of the art.
  • DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • The invention is designed to achieve portability of a lifebuoy, using a small hooking device fixed to the waist of one's trousers or at another point, or simply by inserting it into a bag.
  • To do this, a cover opens longitudinally and on its edges a velcro-type material is positioned. This material develops a resistance to opening such that it allows for the integrity of the ensemble during its transfer, but does not prevent the lifebuoy from expanding when the sensor-actuator is activated on contact with water. This sensor-actuator is housed with the lifebuoy and wound inside the sheath. The sensor-actuator is always exposed when it is inserted inside the cover, so that contact with the water when in use is not impeded.
  • EXPLANATION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • In FIG. 1 above, you can see the deployed lifebuoy (4), and the inflation actuator-sensor (5). FIG. 1 below shows the lifebuoy (4) and the sensor-actuator (5) inside the cover (1) in the open position, where we also observe the velcro-type closure (2) and the hooking device (3) .
  • In FIG. 2, the cover (1) is shown in the closed position, where the lower part of the inflation sensor-actuator (5) and the hooking device (3) are shown on an upper edge.
  • PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION
  • As can be seen in FIG. 1, the invention consists of a sheath (1), open longitudinally, and on whose longitudinal edges a velcro-type material (2) is arranged, also having a hooking device (3) arranged at one end.
  • The lifebuoy (4) and its corresponding sensor-actuator (5) for inflation are housed rolled inside the sheath, in such a way that the head of the sensor-actuator is always exposed, forming a compact and easily transportable ensemble, as can be seen in FIG. 2.
  • Within the essence of the invention, variants of detail, likewise protected, may be included. The morphology of the cover, the type of closure system and the type of hooking device may vary, and the cover could be attached to the lifebuoy.

Claims (4)
