- The disclosure and prior art relates to hanger assemblies and more particularly pertains to a new hanger assembly for hanging an article.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a hook, a pair of arms, and a pair of rods. Each arm has a first endpoint that is hingedly coupled to a lower end of the hook. The arms are selectively positionable in a deployed configuration, wherein the arms extend transversely from the hook, and a stowed configuration, wherein the arms abut. Each rod has a first end that is hingedly coupled to a second endpoint of a respective arm. A coupler is coupled to a second end of a first rod. The coupler is configured to couple to the second end of a second rod. Coupling of the first rod to the second rod fixedly positions the pair of arms and the pair of rods in a triangular configuration that is suited to hang an article.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:

Thearms 14 are selectively positionable in a deployed configuration, wherein thearms 14 extend transversely from thehook 12, and a stowed configuration, wherein thearms 14 abut one another. Eacharm 14 comprises a plurality ofnested sections 22 so that thearm 14 is selectively extensible, as shown inFIG. 3 . The plurality ofnested sections 22 comprises threenested sections 22, as shown inFIG. 2 . - Each
rod 16 has afirst end 24 that is hingedly coupled to asecond endpoint 26 of arespective arm 14, as shown inFIG. 5 . Eachrod 16 comprises a plurality ofnested segments 28 so that therod 16 is selectively extensible, as shown inFIG. 3 . The plurality ofnested segments 28 comprises threenested segments 28, as shown inFIG. 2 . - A
coupler 30 is coupled to asecond end 32 of afirst rod 34. Thecoupler 30 is configured to couple to thesecond end 32 of asecond rod 36. Coupling of thefirst rod 34 to thesecond rod 36 fixedly positions the pair ofarms 14 and the pair ofrods 16 in a triangular configuration that is suited to hang an article, such as a shirt or a pair of pants. - The
first rod 34 has a firstbeveled section 38 that is positioned proximate to thesecond end 32, as shown inFIG. 3 . Thesecond rod 36 has a secondbeveled section 40 that is positioned proximate to thesecond end 32, as shown inFIG. 3 . The secondbeveled section 40 is complementary to the firstbeveled section 38. Thecoupler 30 comprises asleeve 42 that is slidably coupled to thefirst rod 34 proximate to the second end. Thesleeve 42 is positioned to be slid over the firstbeveled section 38 and the secondbeveled section 40 to couple thefirst rod 34 to thesecond rod 36, as shown inFIG. 2 . - A pair of
ridges 44 is coupled singly to thefirst rod 34 proximate to the firstbeveled section 38 and to thesecond rod 36 proximate to the secondbeveled section 40. The pair ofridges 44 are positioned to retain thesleeve 42 over the firstbeveled section 38 and the secondbeveled section 40. - Each of a pair of
first arm rings 46 is coupled to thefirst endpoint 18 of arespective arm 14. Afirst pin 48 is positioned through the pair offirst arm rings 46 so that the pair ofarms 14 is hingedly coupled, as shown inFIG. 4 . - Each of a pair of
second arm rings 50 is coupled to thesecond endpoint 26 of arespective arm 14. Each of a pair ofrod rings 52 is coupled to thefirst end 24 of arespective rod 16. Each of a pair ofsecond pins 54 is positioned through a respectivesecond arm ring 50 and an associatedrod ring 52 so that therespective rod 16 is hingedly coupled to therespective arm 14, as shown inFIG. 5 . This allows therods 16 to be pivoted relative thearm 14 so that therods 16 are in abutment with thearms 14, as shown inFIG. 5 , a compact configuration suitable for stowing theassembly 10 in a suitcase. - A
swivel 56 is coupled to a respectivefirst arm ring 46. Thehook 12 is coupled to theswivel 56 so that thehook 12 is positioned to be rotated relative to the pair ofarms 14, as shown inFIG. 1 . The article that is hung on theassembly 10 would be positioned perpendicular to a clothes rod to which thehook 12 is coupled. Theswivel 56 allows the article to be rotated relative to the clothes rod so that the article is parallel to the clothes rod, allowing for easy inspection of the article. - In use, the
arms 14 and therods 16 are extended. Therods 16 are pivoted relative to thearms 14 to bring the firstbeveled section 38 into abutment with the secondbeveled section 40. Thesleeve 42 is slid over the firstbeveled section 38 and the secondbeveled section 40 to fixedly positioned thearms 14 and therods 16 in the triangular configuration that is suited to hang the article. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
