  • The disclosure and prior art relates to hanger assemblies and more particularly pertains to a new hanger assembly for hanging an article.
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a hook, a pair of arms, and a pair of rods. Each arm has a first endpoint that is hingedly coupled to a lower end of the hook. The arms are selectively positionable in a deployed configuration, wherein the arms extend transversely from the hook, and a stowed configuration, wherein the arms abut. Each rod has a first end that is hingedly coupled to a second endpoint of a respective arm. A coupler is coupled to a second end of a first rod. The coupler is configured to couple to the second end of a second rod. Coupling of the first rod to the second rod fixedly positions the pair of arms and the pair of rods in a triangular configuration that is suited to hang an article.
  • There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
  • The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING(S)
  • The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
  • FIG. 1 is an isometric perspective view of a collapsible hanger assembly according to an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 2 is a front view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 3 is a front view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 4 is a front view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 5 is a front view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new hanger assembly embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
  • As best a hook 12, a pair of arms 14, and a pair of rods 16. Each arm 14 has a first endpoint 18 that is hingedly coupled to a lower end 20 of the hook 12, as shown in FIG. 4. The arms 14 are selectively positionable in a deployed configuration, wherein the arms 14 extend transversely from the hook 12, and a stowed configuration, wherein the arms 14 abut one another. Each arm 14 comprises a plurality of nested sections 22 so that the arm 14 is selectively extensible, as shown in FIG. 3. The plurality of nested sections 22 comprises three nested sections 22, as shown in FIG. 2.
  • Each rod 16 has a first end 24 that is hingedly coupled to a second endpoint 26 of a respective arm 14, as shown in FIG. 5. Each rod 16 comprises a plurality of nested segments 28 so that the rod 16 is selectively extensible, as shown in FIG. 3. The plurality of nested segments 28 comprises three nested segments 28, as shown in FIG. 2.
  • A coupler 30 is coupled to a second end 32 of a first rod 34. The coupler 30 is configured to couple to the second end 32 of a second rod 36. Coupling of the first rod 34 to the second rod 36 fixedly positions the pair of arms 14 and the pair of rods 16 in a triangular configuration that is suited to hang an article, such as a shirt or a pair of pants.
  • The first rod 34 has a first beveled section 38 that is positioned proximate to the second end 32, as shown in FIG. 3. The second rod 36 has a second beveled section 40 that is positioned proximate to the second end 32, as shown in FIG. 3. The second beveled section 40 is complementary to the first beveled section 38. The coupler 30 comprises a sleeve 42 that is slidably coupled to the first rod 34 proximate to the second end. The sleeve 42 is positioned to be slid over the first beveled section 38 and the second beveled section 40 to couple the first rod 34 to the second rod 36, as shown in FIG. 2.
  • A pair of ridges 44 is coupled singly to the first rod 34 proximate to the first beveled section 38 and to the second rod 36 proximate to the second beveled section 40. The pair of ridges 44 are positioned to retain the sleeve 42 over the first beveled section 38 and the second beveled section 40.
  • Each of a pair of first arm rings 46 is coupled to the first endpoint 18 of a respective arm 14. A first pin 48 is positioned through the pair of first arm rings 46 so that the pair of arms 14 is hingedly coupled, as shown in FIG. 4.
  • Each of a pair of second arm rings 50 is coupled to the second endpoint 26 of a respective arm 14. Each of a pair of rod rings 52 is coupled to the first end 24 of a respective rod 16. Each of a pair of second pins 54 is positioned through a respective second arm ring 50 and an associated rod ring 52 so that the respective rod 16 is hingedly coupled to the respective arm 14, as shown in FIG. 5. This allows the rods 16 to be pivoted relative the arm 14 so that the rods 16 are in abutment with the arms 14, as shown in FIG. 5, a compact configuration suitable for stowing the assembly 10 in a suitcase.
  • A swivel 56 is coupled to a respective first arm ring 46. The hook 12 is coupled to the swivel 56 so that the hook 12 is positioned to be rotated relative to the pair of arms 14, as shown in FIG. 1. The article that is hung on the assembly 10 would be positioned perpendicular to a clothes rod to which the hook 12 is coupled. The swivel 56 allows the article to be rotated relative to the clothes rod so that the article is parallel to the clothes rod, allowing for easy inspection of the article.
  • In use, the arms 14 and the rods 16 are extended. The rods 16 are pivoted relative to the arms 14 to bring the first beveled section 38 into abutment with the second beveled section 40. The sleeve 42 is slid over the first beveled section 38 and the second beveled section 40 to fixedly positioned the arms 14 and the rods 16 in the triangular configuration that is suited to hang the article.
  • With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
