Abstract
A full face scuba mask system includes a full face scuba mask that is worn underwater. The full face scuba mask has a regulator portion and a visor portion. The regulator portion includes a regulator and an air hose. The air hose is configured to be fluidly coupled to an air source thereby facilitating a diver to breathe underwater. A valve is coupled to the air hose and the valve is positioned between the regulator and the air source. The valve is selectively positioned between an on position and an off position to selectively allow and restrict a flow of air into the regulator. A snorkel unit is movably coupled to the full face scuba mask. The snorkel unit extends out of water when the diver is near a surface of the water. Thus, the diver may breathe atmospheric air when the diver is underwater.

- The disclosure and prior art relates to scuba devices and more particularly pertains to a new scuba device combining a snorkel and a full face scuba mask.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a full face scuba mask that is worn underwater. The full face scuba mask has a regulator portion and a visor portion. The regulator portion includes a regulator and an air hose. The air hose is configured to be fluidly coupled to an air source thereby facilitating a diver to breathe underwater. A valve is coupled to the air hose and the valve is positioned between the regulator and the air source. The valve is selectively positioned between an on position and an off position to selectively allow and restrict a flow of air into the regulator. A snorkel unit is movably coupled to the full face scuba mask. The snorkel unit extends out of water when the diver is near a surface of the water. Thus, the diver may breathe atmospheric air when the diver is near the surface of the water.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:

FIG. 1 is a front perspective view of a full face scuba mask system according to an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 2 is a perspective view of a snorkel of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 3 is a bottom view of a snorkel of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 4 is a right side view of snorkel of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 5 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the disclosure. - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new scuba device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 5 , the full face scuba mask system 10 generally comprises a fullface scuba mask 12 that may be worn underwater. The fullface scuba mask 12 has aregulator portion 16 and avisor portion 17. Theregulator portion 16 includes aregulator 18 and anair hose 19. Theair hose 19 is fluidly coupled to anair source 20. Thus, adiver 22 may breathe when thediver 22 is underwater. Theair source 20 may be a scuba tank or the like. Theregulator 18 may be a full-face mask scuba regulator of any conventional design and the fullface scuba mask 12 may be a scuba helmet or any other full face scuba mask. - A
valve 24 is coupled to theair hose 19 and thevalve 24 is selectively manipulated. Thevalve 24 is positioned between theregulator 18 and theair source 20. Thevalve 24 is selectively positioned in a scuba position to facilitate compressed air to flow into theregulator 18. Thevalve 24 is selectively positioned in a snorkel position to inhibit the air from flowing into theregulator 18. Thevalve 24 may be a mechanical air valve or the like. Thevalve 24 may include a lever that extends away from theair hose 19 to position the valve between the on position and the off position. - A
snorkel unit 26 is movably coupled to the fullface scuba mask 12. Thesnorkel unit 26 extends away from the fullface scuba mask 12. Thesnorkel unit 26 extends out of water when thediver 22 is near a surface of the water. Thus, thediver 22 may breathe atmospheric air when thediver 22 is near the surface of the water. - The
snorkel unit 26 comprises aport 28 that is fluidly coupled to the fullface scuba mask 12. Theport 28 may be positioned on thevisor portion 17 of the fullface scuba mask 12 and the port may be positioned on the helmet associated with the scuba helmet. Asnorkel 30 is provided that has afirst end 32 and asecond end 34. Thesnorkel 30 has abend 36 thereon and thebend 36 is positioned closer to thesecond end 34 than thefirst end 32. Thus, thesnorkel 30 has a J-shape. - A
fitting 38 is provided. Thefitting 38 is rotatably coupled to thesecond end 34 of thesnorkel 30. The fitting 38 selectively engages theport 28 such that thesnorkel 30 is fluidly coupled to the fullface scuba mask 12. Thesnorkel 30 is rotatable about an axis extending through thefitting 38 and theport 28 when thefitting 38 is coupled to theport 28. Thus, thesnorkel 30 is positionable at a selected angle with respect to the fullface scuba mask 12. - A
cap 40 is coupled to thesnorkel 30. Thecap 40 is selectively positioned on thefirst end 32 of thesnorkel 30. Thus, thecap 40 inhibits water from entering thesnorkel 30. Thecap 40 is selectively removed from thefirst end 32 when thefirst end 32 is extended out of the water. Thus, thediver 22 may breathe the atmospheric air. Atether 42 is coupled between thecap 40 and thesnorkel 30. Thus, thecap 40 is retained on thesnorkel 30. - In use, the full
face scuba mask 12 is worn in the convention of full face scuba masks. Thecap 40 is positioned on thefirst end 32 of thesnorkel 30. Thevalve 24 is positioned in the on position when thediver 22 is underwater. Thus, thediver 22 breathes compressed air from theair source 20. Thevalve 24 is positioned in the off position when thediver 22 is at or near the surface of the water. Thecap 40 is removed from thesnorkel 30. Thus, thediver 22 breathes atmospheric air thereby conserving air in theair source 20. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, system and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
Claims (6)
1. A scuba mask system comprising:
a full face scuba mask being configured to be worn underwater, said full face scuba mask having a regulator portion and a visor portion, said regulator portion including a regulator and an air hose, said air hose being configured to be fluidly coupled to an air source thereby facilitating a diver to breathe when the diver is underwater;
a valve being coupled to said regulator portion wherein said valve is configured to be manipulated, said valve being positioned on said air hose, said valve being positioned between said regulator and the air source, said valve being selectively positioned between an on position and an off position wherein said valve is configured to selectively allow and restrict a flow of air into said regulator; and
a snorkel unit being movably coupled to said full face scuba mask, said snorkel unit extending upwardly from said full face scuba mask wherein said snorkel unit is configured to extend out of water when the diver is near a surface of the water thereby facilitating the diver to breathe atmospheric air when the diver is underwater.
2. The system according to claim 1 , further comprising said snorkel unit comprises a port being fluidly coupled to said full face scuba mask.
3. The system according to claim 1 , further comprising a snorkel having a first end and a second end, said snorkel having a bend thereon, said bend being positioned closer to said second end than said first end such that said snorkel has a J-shape.
4. The system according to claim 3 , further comprising:
a port being fluidly coupled to said full face scuba mask; and
a fitting being rotatably coupled to said second end of said snorkel, said fitting selectively engaging said port such that said snorkel is fluidly coupled to said full face scuba mask, said snorkel being rotatable in said fitting when said fitting is coupled to said port such that said snorkel is positionable at a selected angle with respect to said full face scuba mask.
5. The system according to claim 3 , further comprising a cap being coupled to said snorkel, said cap being selectively positioned on said first end of said snorkel wherein said cap is configured to inhibit water from entering said snorkel, said cap being selectively removed from said first end when said first end is extended out of the water.
6. A full face scuba mask system comprising:
a full face scuba mask being configured to be worn underwater, said full face scuba mask having a regulator portion and a visor portion, said regulator portion including a regulator and an air hose, said air hose being configured to be fluidly coupled to an air source thereby facilitating a diver to breathe when the diver is underwater;
a valve being coupled to said regulator portion wherein said valve is configured to be manipulated, said valve being positioned on said air hose, said valve being positioned between said regulator and the air source, said valve being selectively positioned between an on position and an off position wherein said valve is configured to selectively allow and restrict a flow of air into said regulator; and
a snorkel unit being movably coupled to said full face scuba mask, said snorkel unit extending upwardly from said full face scuba mask wherein said snorkel unit is configured to extend out of water when the diver is near a surface of the water thereby facilitating the diver to breathe atmospheric air when the diver is underwater, said snorkel unit comprising:
a port being fluidly coupled to said full face scuba mask,
a snorkel having a first end and a second end, said snorkel having a bend thereon, said bend being positioned closer to said second end than said first end such that said snorkel has a J-shape,
a fitting being rotatably coupled to said second end of said snorkel, said fitting selectively engaging said port such that said snorkel is fluidly coupled to said full face scuba mask, said snorkel being rotatable in said fitting when said fitting is coupled to said port such that said snorkel is positionable at a selected angle with respect to said full face scuba mask, and
a cap being coupled to said snorkel, said cap being selectively positioned on said first end of said snorkel wherein said cap is configured to inhibit water from entering said snorkel, said cap being selectively removed from said first end when said first end is extended out of the water.
