Description
- This application claims priority to U.S. Provisional Application Ser. No. 62/465,896, filed Mar. 2, 2017. The above references application is incorporated herein by reference as if restated in full.
- The science and art of hair styling has experienced many generations of innovation technically and artistically, and consequently, even the basic set of tools a hair stylist needs, whether professionally or personally, has increased, so that now, a hair stylist needs a vast assortment of tools to satisfy the diversity and finesse of hair styles. Currently, tools are made by many parties in the industry, and while some tools are sold with means of storage, there is no sufficient storage solution that provides for the storing, carriage, access, and display of these tools. For one, a hair stylist often has only one free hand to grab a tool for use, and grabbing the tool requires that he or she sees it. While the tools may be displayed on a wall for easy physical and visual access, this means requires a lot of space and does not enable the transportation of these tools. What is needed is a transportation solution that also provides for the simultaneous display of many tools.
- The present application discloses a tool bag with a removable insert. The bag may feature a base, a front side, a back side, a first side, and a second side. The front side, back side, first side, and second side may be attached to the base. The front side and back side may each be attached to the first side and the second side. Attachment means may include snap-fit buttons, zippers, velcro, or other attachment means. One or more of the sides and/or base may be made of any appropriate material, including leather, vinyl, or cloth.
- Each of the base, front side, back side, first side, and second side feature an interior and an exterior. The interiors and exteriors may be made of the same material or different materials sewn or otherwise attached together. The exteriors may feature one or more pockets or extra storage compartments. The interiors may feature elastic bands or compartments for the storage and organization of tools, particularly hair care products and appliances.
- The exterior or ends of the front side, back side, first side, and back side may feature one or more handles or straps. The handles or straps may be sewn in directly or attached to rings, chains, or additional straps where are themselves attached to the exteriors or ends. Preferably, the handles or straps are attached in proximity to the top portions of the sides.
- The first and second sides may be shaped such that bottom portions, which are attached to the base, and wider than top portions, thus providing the bag with a wedge or truncated wedge shape.
- The base may feature one or more locking hinge inserts, the hinge inserts extending at least partly into the one or more sides. Preferably, the hinge inserts span from the front side to the base and the base to the back side. The locking aspect of a hinge insert may feature one or more locking angles, such that the front or back side can be stabilized at a convenient angle from the base, allowing a user to view and access the tools without having to lay the bag completely flat on a surface. This is especially convenient when space is at a premium. The base may also feature one or more limiters. A limiter is designed to prevent the side to which it is attached from extending too far when the bag is open. The limiter may be attached to the base, or front side or back side, at one or more distance points, thus providing control over the angle at which the front side or back side extends from the base.
- The first and second sides may each feature a front end and a back end, with the front end attachable to the front side and the back end attachable to the back side. Since the first and second sides can be detached from both the front side and the back side, the front side, back side, first side, and second side can be lain flat on a surface at the same time.
- The bag may feature an insert. The insert may be removable attached to the bag by means of a zipper, velcro, snap-fit buttons, or other appropriate means. The insert may feature one or more elastic bands or compartments for the additional storage and organization of tools. The bag may also feature more than one insert.
- In one embodiment, the insert may feature a strap or belt configured to be worn by a user. The strap or belt may be removably or fixedly attached to the insert. The strap or belt may be attached to the insert by a ring formation, clip, snap-fit button set, or other attachment means, or it they may be sewn together. The strap or belt may serve as a strap or handle for the bag holistically, as well. In this variation, the strap or belt protrudes through or above the first and second sides. In a variation, the insert is continuous with the first and second sides and is removably attachable to the base and/or the front side and back side.
