Abstract

A multicomponent wig utilizes a plurality of base weave members selectively coupled to achieve varying degrees of fullness and or length for a hairpiece wherein the each base weave member can be secured to another base weave member to create a unified base for the wig.

Description

  • This application claims priority from Provisional Patent Application No. 62/382,389 filed on Sep. 1, 2016 entitled RETAINER FOR LACE HAIRPIECES.
  • FIELD OF INVENTION
  • This invention relates to Wigs and in particular to lace wigs, a lace wig frontal or any hairpiece that has lace in the front. In greater particularity, the present invention relates to wigs and hairpieces in which hair is mounted to an almost imperceptible lace foundation and then worn on the head. In still further particularity, the present invention relates wigs wherein the fullness of the hair on the wig can be modified by the wearer to present different appearances.
  • BACKGROUND
  • Many wigs have been proposed in the past, partial, front wigs, falls, however all have the drawback of cost. A full wig is a much more costly purchase than a partial and to have a full wig stylized it may irreversibly change the character of the wig.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • Referring to the drawings which are appended hereto and which form a portion of this disclosure, it may be seen that:
  • FIG. 1 shows bottom view of the base wig component;
  • FIG. 2 shows a bottom view of the filler wig component;
  • FIG. 3 shows a top view of the terminal wig component;
  • FIG. 4 shows a bottom view of the terminal wig component;
  • FIG. 5 shows the base wig component being secured to the filler wig component;
  • FIG. 6 shows the filler wig component being secured to the tertiary wig component.
  • FIG. 7 illustrates the appearance of the wig with only the base wig component;
  • FIG. 8 illustrated the appearance of the wig with a combination of the base and secondary component; and,
  • FIG. 9 illustrates the full wig with all components in place.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • Referring to the drawings note that the wig 10 is actually multiple wig components each including a fabric body or weave base to which the individual hair strands are attached. Referring to FIG. 1, the wig 10 includes a crown component 20 which includes a lace brow net 21 extending forwardly from a weave base 22. Weave base 22 covers the crown of the head rearwardly of the brow net 21 and has a margin extending rearwardly from the brow net including opposing temple portions 26 and a connecting rear portion 27 distal the transverse brow net 21. Note that hair fibers 23 are attached to the weave base 22 from the brow net to the connecting rear portion and along either side of a part line 24. The part line 24 is formed of the same lace material as the brow net 21 or the weave base 22.
  • Along the connecting rear portion 27 snaps, hooks, hook and loop tape or zippers can be employed as a fastener 28 to connect the crown component 20 to a filler component 30, having a filler weave base 31 and forward attachment strip 35 co-extensive with the connecting rear portion 27 and extending perpendicular thereto to a transverse rear portion 32, said filler weave base having a plurality of hair fibers 33 attached thereto. Along the transverse rear portion 32 snaps, hooks, hook and loop tape or zippers can be employed as a fastener 34 to connect the transverse rear portion 32 to another filler component 30 or to a terminal portion 40 also incorporating like fasteners 44 mounted on a terminal connecting strip 41 with additional hair strands 42 mounted to weave base 43.
  • Referring to FIG. 5, it may be seen that crown component 20 is readily attached to a filler component 30 by simply attaching the fastener's carried by each component and smoothing or brushing the hair fibers to achieve the desired appearance. Referring to FIGS. 7 and 8 it can readily be seen that the combination of components as shown in FIG. 8 dramatically increases the appearance of the fullness of the hair, not to mention its length, which is also influenced by the length of the hair fibers and styling of the hair piece.
  • Referring to FIG. 6, it may be seen that the filler component 30 is capable of being selectively attached to the terminal component 40 in the same manner. Referring to FIG. 9 it is again seen that the volume and fullness of the hair, even in an un-stylized condition is significantly different. It will be appreciated that this multicomponent wig allows the wearer to choose the quantity of hair to wear and to enjoy the benefit of a full or partial wig at a much lesser expense than could be achieved by purchasing multiple wigs. Further, the wearer can utilize components with various hair colors to create different appearances.
  • While in the foregoing specification this invention has been described in relation to certain embodiments thereof, and many details have been put forth for the purpose of illustration, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the invention is susceptible to additional embodiments and that certain of the details described herein can be varied considerably without departing from the basic principles of the invention.
